I am an associate professor at SILC Business School, Shanghai University. I teach and carry out research on spatial economics (trade and economic geography issues) with a particular emphasis on China and Japan. My early studies mainly center on explaining the asymmetrical industrial agglomeration with the paradigm of New Economic Geography. My recent topics lie in the intersection of spatial and environmental issues with micro-level data. I am conducting research, among other topics: cause and consequence of urban shrinkage, assessing spatial agglomeration impacts, and how spatial configuration affects urban and environmental behavior. I currently serve as an associate-editor at The Annals of Regional Science.
