Rebel Torture
Rebel Torture
Category: Audio
Information: The first torture session of a rebel captured during the Walker Creek Observatory attack. His name is Thomas Abernathy. In this session, he is questioned by the Tour Guide.
Transcript:
Tour Guide: Hello, Thomas. I'm the Tour Guide. I assume you've heard of me? Well I've heard of you. Today I'm going to ask you a few questions. I'm not one to make threats but, I would say that it's in your best interest to answer.
Thomas: What are you going to do to me?
Tour Guide: Well that depends on how much you're willing to talk, Mr. Abernathy. And you should know - I really don't have time for small talk today. I have to put out all the fires you and your friends started. Let's start with a simple one, shall we? Perhaps related to those fires? You, Thomas Abernathy, are a member of the Walker Creek Rebellion, correct? You're a member of the rebellion, right Thomas?
Thomas: Yes.
Tour Guide: Good. Cooperation is rare to find during this part of the job. Let's keep it up. I'll get straight to the point now - what were you after in the Observatory?
Thomas: No.
Tour Guide: No??
Thomas: No.
Tour Guide: Oh, we were doing so well at the start.
[Sounds of metal tools]
Tour Guide: I'll ask again, what was the Rebellion trying to get out of the Observatory? I need you to answer me, Thomas, or I swear on the Harvest Star I will stab this scalpel through your lungs.
Thomas: I'm not going to answer.
Tour Guide: Well if you won't answer, how about another question for you, Thomas? How does the rebellion communicate?
Thomas: I won't -
Tour Guide: Now Thomas, think wisely about what you say next. You'll only make it worse for yourself if you keep resisting.
Thomas: A website. It's called [REDACTED]
Tour Guide: Thank you, Thomas. Get Adam to look into that immediately. Now that you're in the mood to talk, how about some names? Who do you associate with? Who else is in the Rebellion? More lowly accountants like yourself?
Thomas: You shouldn't ask questions that I don't have the answers to.
Tour Guide: What are you talking about?
Thomas: We don't know each others names, dumbass. I don't know a single other person in the group. Not for sure. If we did then one torture session from you against someone weak like me and the whole rebellion gets shut down.
Tour Guide: You're lying. You have to know their voices, their faces, something. It doesn't make sense.
Thomas: Why would I lie? I know you'll electrocute me or stab me or some shit if I don't answer - there's no point. We wear masks and I can't distinguish one voice from the next. I can't help you.
Tour Guide: Let's say I believe you at all, Thomas. What about Topas then? You all have to know him at least.
Thomas: Nope. We know the name, the distorted voice, and a few people have seen him, but not me.
Tour Guide: Well Thomas, you're really turning out to be quite useless to me. You better think of something to keep you alive.
Thomas: How have you made it this far without knowing such simple details? You didn't even know about -
Tour Guide: Usually, I get frustrated and bored, so I discard them. Now tell me, Thomas, why should I act any differently towards you?
Thomas: Information. I can tell you strategies of theirs. Here's a free one- they want to use technology to defeat you.
Tour Guide: I know that. You're still being useless!
Thomas: Fine. If you think you know so much.
Tour Guide: I know EVERYTHING, Thomas Abernathy. I know about you - your father being treated at Harborview, your aspirations for a raise at the Carter Company, how you don't really go camping at Bernard Overlook every weekend. I know everything about you. And if you think that not knowing about your anonymity policy in your insignificant rebellion changes that, you are wrong. All you've done is helped me become more efficient at extracting information from people like you.
Thomas: Either way, I'm still useful to you. I know I am.
Tour Guide: Then when I send Adam down here, I'm sure you'll cooperate with him too. You've given me enough information to survive another day. And look on the bright side - maybe you won't die after all. We could always use more bodies.
Thomas: What does that mean? Get back here!
