The 1988-1989 Hijackings were carried out by David Treson's rebel cell in July to August 1988, which were stopped after increased security measures. An additional hijacking in July 1989. There were 5 hijackings in total.
Four hijackings occurred in 1988. The first broadcast occurred on July 22 1988, in which 53 seconds of text was displayed, introducing themselves as the rebellion and warning people that there is danger. The next hijacking occurred on July 29, with a male believed to be Theodore Ederson overriding the original audio of a Lake Denton Kayak Race Recap and speaking with a distorted voice. Ederson being the culprit is unconfirmed, however. In this voice over, the man discusses the disappearances each year around the time of the Harvest Festival, and the actions of several Hosts. He urges people to be more aware and to vote in the election The third broadcast, on August 17, showed footage of the hosting of a resident of Walker Creek, Luke Delor, after following this EBS announcement in the past. Text says to "lock your doors". The fourth hijacking, and the final one in 1988, happened on August 25, and had text overlaid on an intentional Walker Creek Police Department broadcast. It featured similar warnings as before. The broadcasters changed the WCPD broadcast to urge people to stop watching, before shutting down the station. After increased security measures on the WCBS Tower, these hijackings came to an end.
The 1989 hijacking occurred on July 22, 1989, one year exactly after their initial 1988 hijacking. Information about this event is off limits.
The initial hijackings in 1988 were carried out by infiltrating the compound for the WCBS Tower and inputting their own programs. These were stopped with our increased security measures that are still in place today.
Additionally, there were several hijackings of the Walker Creek Public Radio. Many of these instances were not noticed or logged, but usually consisted of David Trenson attempting to convince people to believe him and join his rebellion. After the Mayoral Election of 1988, Theodore Ederson sent a hijacked signal in order to warn David Trenson about his loss.
