Dr. Wahaj Abbas Awan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, Sahiwal Campus, Pakistan, in 2019. He then joined the Department of Integrated IT Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul, Republic of Korea, where he studied from 2019 to 2021. Recently, he completed his MS-Ph.D. Integrated Program in Information and Communication Engineering at Chungbuk National University (CBNU), Cheongju, Republic of Korea.
During his doctoral studies, he served as a Research Associate (RA) at the Optical Information Processing (OIP) Laboratory under Professor Nam Kim and at the ResonantWave Technologies (RWT) Laboratory under Dr. Niamat Hussain. In recognition of his outstanding work, he received the Best Thesis Award from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, CBNU.
Dr. Awan has an extensive scholarly record, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals and conferences. He has also contributed to the academic community through editorial roles, including serving as a Guest Editor for Micromachines (MDPI) on the special issue “Recent Advancements in Flexible, Reconfigurable, and Wearable Antennas for 5G and Beyond,” and for Electronics (MDPI) on “Recent Research in Reconfigurable Antenna and Metasurfaces for 5G and Beyond.” Since May 2025, he has been working as an Associate Editor with Wireless Personal Communications.
In addition, he actively contributes as a reviewer for numerous international journals and conferences, including MDPI-Sensors, MDPI-Micromachines, MDPI-Applied Sciences, MDPI-Electronics, Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, Scientific Reports, RadioEngineering, PLOS ONE, and the International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Energy Technologies.
