Mount Kaweah / Black Kaweah
Ascents of Mount Kaweah (South slopes, class 1) and Black Kaweah (Southwest face, class 3) with René Renteria, September 10-15, 2013
Timeline:
September 10, 2013. We left Crescent Meadow at 11:50 after a night at the Lodgepole campground. We reached camp at Bearpaw Meadow at 18:00 under intermittent rain (a 6:10 hour day, 11.5 miles).
September 11, 2013. We left Bearpaw Meadow at 8:40, reached the main Hamilton Lake at 11:45 where we had lunch. We departed the lake at 12:30 and were in camp near the Big Arroyo old ranger cabin at 17:45 (a 9:05 hour day, 13.5 miles).
September 12, 2013. We left camp at 7:45, reached the summit of Mount Kaweah at 12:50 and were back in camp at 17:00 (a 9:15 hour day, 10 miles).
September 13, 2013. We left camp at 6:50, reached the summit of Black Kaweah at 12:30, departed the summit at 13:00, took a long break at Lake 11,549 and were back in camp at 18:00 (an 11:10 hour day, 5 miles)
September 14, 2013. We left camp at Big Arroyo at 9:15, took a long break at Hamilton Lake, and were in camp at Bearpaw Meadow campground at 18:00 (an 8:45 hour day, 13.5 miles)
September 15, 2013. We left camp at Bearpaw meadow at 8:44, and reached Crescent Meadow at 13:50. After a visit to the Sherman Tree, we were back in LA at 19:40. (a 5:06 hour day, 11.5 miles).
