Mount Russell
Ascent of Mount Russell, via the South Face, Right Side (Class 4), with René Renteria, June 19, 2005
Timeline:
June 17, 2005. We went rock climbing at Iris Slab, near Rock Creek Road.
June 18, 2005: Approach to Iceberg Lake. We departed Whitney Portal at 8:10, took a one hour nap at Lower Boy Scout Lake and an hour break at Upper Boyscout Lake. It took 2.5 hours from UBS Lake to Iceberg Lake, and we reached camp at Iceberg Lake at 16:00.
June 19, 2005. The Climb. We departed camp at 7:50, were at the base of the South Face gully at 9:00, and on the summit of Mount Russell at 13:00. We departed the summit at 13:30, were at the top of the South Face gully at 16:00 and back in camp at 18:00.
June 20, 2005. The Return. We departed camp at 8:10, stopped at Lower Boy Scout Lake for a half hour break and were back at Whitney Portal at 12:30.
June 20, 2005. We visited the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
