Matthes Crest
South to North Traverse (5.7) of Matthes Crest, Yosemite National Park, CA, with Bob Burd and René Renteria, July 30, 2004
Timeline:
After spending the night in the forest near Highway 120 in Tuolumne Meadows, René and I met Bob Burd around 6 am on the morning of July 30, and we set out to do the full traverse of Matthes Crest (IV, 5.7). Bob led us without hiccups to the base of the climb. René and I protected the first two pitches while Bob soloed them. We did belay Bob up the summit pitch (steep 5.7), and simulclimbed the rest. A great day of climbing.
