Failed winter ascent of Mount Russell (East Ridge, class 3), with René Renteria and Christine Burke, January 18, 2003
Timeline:
January 17, 2002. Approach, via North Fork of Lone Pine Creek. We wore snowshoes and did not have to climb the Ebersbacher Ledges, as the snow covered the normally impassable thicket in the canyon of the North Fork.
January 18, 2002. The climb, via the East Ridge. We left camp too late and were going to run out of daylight, so we decided to turn back from the East summit of Mount Russell. Days are short in winter.
January 19, 2002. The return, back the same way.
