Attorney-at-law Isat Buchanan has confirmed that an expedited date has been set and his client, Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer, will have his case heard by the Privy Council in the United Kingdom next year.
Vybz Kartel and his fellow accused will have to wait until next month for a verdict in their case. Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is charged jointly with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell, also called Shawn Storm; Kahira Jones; Shane Williams; and Andr St John, with the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, of Waterford, St Catherine. He was allegedly beaten to death on August 16, 2011, at Kartel's Havendale house over two missing guns.
Justice Lennox Campbell had planned to start his summation to the jury, but was informed that the jurors could not sit.
On Monday, the court was told by the foreman that the jurors could only sit in the afternoon sessions yesterday and today. Yesterday, Campbell asked the jurors if any of them were going to be unavailable next week.
One of the jurors indicated that she had some medical tests to do on Monday and Tuesday next week.Campbell proceeded to ask the jurors not to discuss the case with anyone and return to court at 10 a.m. next Thursday.
The trial has been going on since November 18, and is said to be one of the longest cases to be tried in the Home Circuit Court.
