OVERVIEW
Orbit VR does not require an account, and we do not sell personal information. You add your own 360°, 180°, fisheye, flat and 3D video files, and the app plays them in a window you turn with your phone or in a split-screen view for phone VR viewers. The app keeps references to your videos, not copies of them, and keeps its library in the app's storage on your device. The app also uses Google services and an advertising mediation partner for analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and advertising.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
For each video you add, the app keeps a reference to the file (its address and the read permission Android grants for it, or the folder it came from), the file name, file size, duration, frame size, rotation, frame rate and codec type, the detected or chosen layout (shape and 3D layout) and how it was detected, the result of a playback check against your phone's decoder, a small preview image made from one frame of the video, the playback position, whether it was watched, when it was added and last played, and whether the file can currently be read. The library holds up to 5,000 videos.
The app also keeps headset fit profiles (a name, eye spacing, vertical offset, picture size, view angle, lens correction, and which profile is the default; up to 8 profiles), folders you added (folder name, its address and read permission, and when it was last scanned), and your settings (tracking mode, smoothing, recentre mode, default view, control auto-hide and sort order). It keeps a list of IDs of removed videos and deleted profiles and folders so that restoring an older backup does not bring them back; this list is kept without a limit. If a saved entry cannot be read, the app leaves it untouched and shows it in the Library with a Remove option.
The app may also store basic operating information such as cached advertising settings and a cached More Apps list.
Your videos are read and decoded on your device for playback, preview images and the playback check. The developer does not run a server that receives your videos or your library. The app reads developer-controlled advertising settings and a More Apps list from Google Cloud Firestore, but it does not upload your videos, file names or library entries. When you open the developer's other apps in the menu, app icons are loaded from the web addresses in that list.
PERMISSIONS
The app does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos and videos, music and audio files, Bluetooth, health data, or notification permissions, and it shows no runtime permission prompt. It declares internet access, network state, wake lock and the Android advertising ID permission for these services and for playback, and vibration for short haptic feedback. The screen is kept on while a video is playing.
Videos are added only through the Android file picker ("Add video") or folder picker ("Add folder"); the app receives only the files or the folder you choose, and keeps a read permission for them so they can be played later. If you cancel the picker, nothing is added. If a file is moved or its permission is lost, the entry shows "Find file again".
When tracking is set to Motion and a video or the test sphere is open, the app reads your phone's motion sensors (rotation-vector or gyroscope sensors) to turn the view. This needs no permission; the readings are processed in memory and are not saved. Choose "Touch only" or "Off" to stop using them.
ANALYTICS, CRASH REPORTING, AND ADS
Google Firebase Analytics may process limited app-usage and technical information, such as app launches and screen views; picker and add results (method, result and a count range); layout detection and playback-check results (shape, 3D layout, detection source, codec, and resolution and frame-rate ranges); playback start, watch completion (a watched-time range and dropped-frame range), view and tracking changes, recentring, the motion sensor type and playback error classes; layout changes; saved headset profiles (lens correction and spacing, offset and view-angle ranges); changes to smoothing, default view, recentre mode and auto-hide settings; backups written (count ranges); a count range of files that can no longer be read, and storage errors; abandoned steps; menu, review and privacy-menu opens; ad revenue events (ad format, value, currency and precision); app version, device type, and app-instance identifiers. These events do not include file names, folder names, profile names or video content.
Google Firebase Crashlytics may process crash reports and related technical information needed to diagnose app problems.
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. A banner may appear at the bottom of the Library. Full-screen ads may appear when the app opens or returns to the foreground, and occasionally when you return to the Library after watching a video. The app does not start a full-screen ad while the player or headset fit screen is open. AdMob may also request ads from the Liftoff (Vungle) mediation network. Google and Liftoff may process advertising identifiers and device, app, consent, network, and ad-performance information to provide and measure ads, and may use an IP address to estimate an approximate location even though the app has no location permission.
ADVERTISING CHOICES
When the app starts, Google's consent message (UMP) is checked first. Where consent is required (for example in the EEA and UK), personalized advertising stays off unless your choice allows it, and if the consent result does not allow ad requests, or the consent check has not completed, the app does not request ads. If the consent message cannot be loaded or its result cannot be read, the app still requests non-personalized ads, personalized advertising stays off, and "Privacy choices" is not shown until the app is started again. Where Google requires it, the menu opened from "About & privacy" shows "Privacy choices", which reopens the consent message so you can change your advertising choice. The app works whatever you choose.
STORAGE AND YOUR CONTROL
In the Library, long-press a video and choose "Remove from library"; "Undo" in the message that follows is available for a few seconds. Removing an entry deletes its saved record and preview image (a record file that cannot be deleted at that moment stays hidden, and an unused preview image may be cleaned up at a later start), and releases the file's own read permission (not a folder's) when no other entry uses the same file; its ID stays in the removed-ID list. Your video file itself is never deleted. In Settings, "Forget folder" removes a folder entry and releases the folder's read permission; videos already added from that folder stay in the Library until you remove them, and may show "Find file again". In Headset fit, you can delete a profile after a confirmation. You can also clear the app's data in Android settings or delete the app. The app turns off Android Auto Backup and excludes its data from Android device-to-device transfer; use "Export settings backup" if you want a copy.
"Export settings backup" in Settings writes a file with your settings, headset profiles, and for each video its file name, size, duration, layout choice, playback position and watched state, plus the lists of removed video and deleted profile IDs. It contains no video data and no file addresses. The file is written to the app's cache and sent through the system share sheet to a destination you choose. When the app starts, it removes these cache files once they are more than 24 hours old; files whose age it cannot check may be kept. The app does not delete copies you shared elsewhere. "Restore a backup" opens the Android file picker; the picker's temporary copy is deleted after a successful restore and may remain in the app's cache otherwise. Restoring applies the backup's settings, adds or updates headset profiles (up to 8 in total), updates the layout, position and watched state of matching videos already in your Library (matched by ID, or by file name, size and duration), lists videos that are not on this phone without adding them, and removes videos and profiles that the backup's ID lists cover.
Because we do not receive your library, we cannot delete it for you; the controls above remove it from the app. For questions about data processed by Google or Liftoff, or to ask us for help with a privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Data processed by third parties is retained according to their service settings and policies. We use these services under their applicable terms, and we ensure that third-party service providers with whom we share user data provide the same or equal protection of that data as stated in this policy.

SECURITY
Your library, preview images, settings and cache files are kept in the app's private storage on your device, which the operating system protects from other apps; they are not separately encrypted by the app, so protect your device with a screen lock. An exported backup file is plain text and includes your video file names and profile names, so share it only where you want it. Apart from the limited analytics events described above, the app does not upload your saved data. Communication between the app and Google services and the ad mediation partner uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what the app collects to what is described in this policy.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Watching 360° and 3D video, especially in a phone VR viewer, can cause dizziness, eye strain or motion sickness. Take breaks, stop if you feel unwell, stay seated or in a safe place, and do not use the app while walking, driving or doing anything that needs your attention. Headset fit values and lens correction are approximate and should be adjusted by eye. Layout detection can be wrong; check the badge and change it if needed. The app does not give medical advice. Only play videos you have the right to use.
CHILDREN
The app is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
CHANGES
We may update this policy if the app or its services change. The date above shows the latest revision.
