Vishal Jyoti Roy obtained his Master's degree in organic chemistry (Gold Medallist with First Class Distinction) in 2019 at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, conducting postgraduate research into the studies and synthesis of novel bis-flavone derivatives. He was awarded the CSIR Junior Research Fellowship for pursuing doctoral research in chemistry. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program at IIT Delhi under the guidance of Dr. Sudipta Raha Roy as a Prime Minister's Research Fellow. His current research interests are in the development of novel catalytic reactions and their applications in organic synthesis.
Dr. Sudipta Raha Roy was born and brought up in Burdwan, West Bengal. He received his MSc degree in organic chemistry from Visva-Bharati University. In 2012, he earned his PhD from NIPER-Mohali under the supervision of Prof. Asit K. Chakraborti. Subsequently, he moved to IISER-Kolkata as a research associate to work with Prof. Swadhin K. Mandal. Thereafter, Dr. Raha Roy joined the group of Prof. Ilan Marek at Schulich Faculty of Chemistry, Technion, Israel as a PBC postdoctoral fellow. He further continued his postdoctoral studies with Prof. Paolo Melchiorre at ICIQ, Spain as a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow. In November 2018, Dr. Raha Roy joined the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry. His current research interests concern the discovery and development of sustainable catalysis for small molecule activation.
