Privacy Policy for VroomMates

1. Introduction
VroomMates ("we," "our," or "us") is a group ride coordination app for motorcyclists. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
2. Information We Collect
Location data
We collect precise GPS location while a ride is active. This data is shared in real time with other members of your ride group and is stored locally on your device and in our Firebase database. Background location is used only during an active ride session.
Account information
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. If you use the app as a guest, no account information is collected.
Chat messages and voice messages
Messages and voice recordings sent within a group are stored in our Firebase database and are visible to all members of that group.
Photos
Profile photos and bike photos you upload are stored in Firebase and visible to your group members.
Device information
We collect a device identifier to distinguish riders on the live map. This identifier is not linked to your name or contact information unless you choose to sign in.
Usage data
We collect anonymous usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to understand how the app is used. This includes events like ride started, group created, and app session start. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics data.
Crash data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports, which may include device type, OS version, and recent app activity at the time of the crash. No personally identifiable information is included.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Show your live location to members of your active ride group
Enable group chat and coordination features
Improve app stability and performance
Understand how the app is used in aggregate
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your location, messages, and photos are shared only with members of the ride groups you have created or joined. We use the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:
Google Firebase (database, authentication, analytics, crash reporting)
Google Sign-In (if you choose to sign in)
5. Data Retention
Your ride history, chat messages, and group data are retained until you delete your account or request deletion. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see Section 8.
6. Children's Privacy
VroomMates is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Security
We use Firebase's security infrastructure to protect your data. Location data is only shared with your group members and is not publicly accessible. We do not log precise GPS coordinates in our analytics or crash reports.
8. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your VroomMates account and all associated data (groups, rides, chat history, photos) by:
Using the account deletion option within the app (Profile → Sign Out → Delete Account)

We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
9. Your Rights

10. Changes to This Policy
