අනාගතය යනු : වර්තමානයට පසුව පැමිණෙන කාලය සහ එම කාලය තුළ සිදු වන සිදුවීම් ය. " අනාගතය " යන වචනය පැමිණෙන්නේ ලතින් වචනය වන ( futurus ) වෙතින් වන අතර එහි අර්ථය " වීමට නියමිතයි " වේ.
