Welcome to my homepage ! My name is Vasileios Rafail Karaferis, though I go as ``Vasilis" for sort. I am a Stipendiary Fellow in Economics at the University of Edinburgh. I hold a PhD in Economics, from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. My PhD thesis "Essays on Contemporary Monetary and Fiscal Policies" was funded by the ESRC- Open Competition Award (2019- 2023).
My research primarily focuses on the interaction between monetary and fiscal policy in heterogeneous agent New Keynesian (HANK) economies. More broadly, I am interested in macroeconomics, particularly research questions at the intersection of macro-labour, macro-finance, and inequality. I am especially drawn to understanding how labour market structures and financial frictions shape macroeconomic outcomes, and how these, in turn, influence the distribution of income and wealth.
I also hold an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) through the Developing as a Teacher in Higher Education programme, and I am currently working toward full Fellowship status.
I will be on the job market in 2025/2026.Â
