Vote Jason Mata!

In Depth with Jason Mata

My name is Jason Mata Sr. I am 47 years old and have been married with Rachel Gonzales-Mata for 23 years. Rachel and I are proud parents of three and recently became grandparents. Our oldest Son, Jason Jr., currently serves in the United States Navy as a Master of Arms, Petty Officer 3rd class. Our daughter, Kimberly Rose, is enrolled in Post University majoring in Business management and our youngest son, Jaiden, is in 6th grade at Crockett Elementary, a local public school.

My family and I come from a diverse background and have endured many adverse life situations. But through a strong family bond we have overcame every obstacle together. I would like to bring my experience as a grass roots community leader and mentor, strong work ethic, Integrity, and putting people first attitude to our congressional seat.

I have over 20 years of experience working in the Non-Profit sector and 4 years of experience in running my own construction company.

I served as an Executive Director for 3 non-profits for the past 10 years and worked as a family case manager in my prior years. The community work involved mentoring At-Risk youth and case management services for low income and working poor families. Community organizing was also part of the scope of work and involved communicating issues and concerns to local governments, intervention, and oversight to ensure that the concerns were resolved. Most of the community work directly benefited homeowners, working middle class, business owner and other community residents.

I have served in numerous executive boards including the Haven For Hope, San Antonio Westside Development Corporation, several task force groups and other community related associations.

In year 2011 the organization that I run was spotlighted in ABC's Secret Millionaire for the impact it has on the community at large.

In year 2012 I received the Jefferson Award from NBC affiliate WOAI News 4 and was named person of the Year by the West Chamber of Commerce for my work with At-Risk youth in the 78207-zip code and Bexar County areas.

In year 2017 I was spotlighted in CBS affiliate KENS 5 news in the "People Who Make San Antonio Great" segment.

I have led many efforts in my local community that address numerous and pressing matters such as Mental and Physical wellness, quality of life issues prevalent in high crime areas, Youth Development and Delinquency, and taxpayers' rights.

Putting my and my family's life struggles at the forefront when working with the community has helped me to develop creative and practical ways to find resolve in many of the areas that I worked in.

I am seeking the office of Congressional District 35 because I know that I can provide a new and fresh voice that only has close ties but can relate to many of the issues that we face, not only in our congressional district, but as a Nation.

For far to long we as a community have been reactive instead of proactive. We spend Millions of dollars reacting to problems instead of Investing and trying new and practical ways that address the problems.

Based on my work of engaging constituency, I strongly believe that practical and holistic approaches like the PIE (Prevention, Intervention and Enrichment) approach can serve the people justice and taxpayers justice.

As is, America and District 35 will never see the Enrichment that we all deserve.

I Humbly and Sincerely ask for your support!
