Appropriate Development in Oak Park

VOICE advocates local property development that is appropriate in scale and compatible in style, materials, and function; that fits in within existing structures and natural features; that contributes positively to the walkability and accessibility of our mature urban streetscape for all; and that respects the renowned historic architecture that distinguishes Oak Park. Recognizing that communities need to grown and change, we believe that these principles are compatible with new architecture, streetscape in-fill, and evolving uses and demographic trends. We seek development that protects and expresses our values of openness, inclusion, equity, community, and the environment.

On the basis of these principles, VOICE firmly opposes developer Golub & Co.'s proposal for a 256-unit, 299-foot-tall residential building at 835 Lake Street.
