ELECTION 2019:
VOICE CONGRATULATES
Tim Thomas, Christian Harris,
and Josh Klayman
on their hard-fought campaigns
for Village Trustee
and sincerely thanks the many VOICE members and campaign workers
who volunteered their time and effort to support VOICE's endorsed candidates
and to make our VOICES heard.
We helped shape the debate and a focus on issues of inclusion, equity, transparency, accountability, affordability, and appropriate development!
VOICE has been a leader in the movement for community-oriented development in Oak Park that is appropriate to its surroundings and responsive to the needs of current and future Oak Parkers. VOICE led opposition to a proposed 28-story residential tower at 835 Lake Street. Developer Golub & Co. ultimately abandoned its bid to build on that property, close to Unity Temple.
VOICE is prepared to oppose similar projects that grossly violate height zoning limits; that are inappropriate to the site in scale, style, or function; or that otherwise do not serve the interests of their neighborhood or the broader community.
A Day in Our Village, Sunday, June 3, 2019 in Scoville Park, was a great opportunity for outreach and conversation with a diverse set of Oak Parkers and others. We handed out about 250 informational flyers and signed up new members.
