About the app:
Voice Controller is an intelligent personal assistant Android application that allows users to use their mobile phone to remotely access their Windows computer and its functionality verbally by saying commands into the phone.
There are many voice-controlled applications that are related and helped to inspire the creation of Voice Controller. An example of one is Siri, which is also an intelligent personal assistant that uses a natural language interface. Its main functions include answering questions, making recommendations and performing other actions by delegating requests to a set of web services. Our application, Voice Controller, drew inspiration from this type of voice communication but instead of simple user-phone interaction, its attempt is to use the phone as a medium between a human and a personal computer.
The main motivation behind this project was to create an application that would assist people who need to use a computer but do not have access to its conventional input devices (keyboard/mouse) due to various reasons like disability, hardware failure or being too busy to access their computer directly. The main aim of Voice Controller was to become a viable alternative of a more hands-off interaction that people would use while being away from mouse and keyboard.
The application’s extensive features include enabling the user to:
Open, save, print and close files.
Open, edit and save files in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Watch videos and listen to music on the computer.
Browse the Internet (Youtube, Facebook, Twitter) and type in browser.
Control mouse pointer all by saying simple commands into their mobile device without having to actually directly interact with the computer.
