Obtaining her B.Eng. degree in Computer Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she pursued further education and received her M.Sc. and Doctor of Science in Microelectronics and VLSI from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, USA, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Her journey in the field of electronics engineering education began in 2003, as she started teaching various courses.
Presently, she serves as a Microelectronics Engineer and a Researcher within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at IIUM. With a strong global network, she has also contributed as an Invited Researcher to esteemed institutions including Linkoping University, Sweden, City College of New York, USA, Griffith University, Australia, and University of Twente, Holland.
Driven by her Ph.D. aspirations, she shifted her focus towards developing innovative biosensors starting with a personalized cancer chemotherapeutics kit that not only determines the ideal drug for the patient but also its precise dosage. Her prolific work has seen publication in over 200 papers in both domestic and international journals and proceedings. With two U.S. patents under her belt, she boasts a strong portfolio.
Her research expertise spans micro-electro-mechanical systems, featuring the design of micro-sized devices like resonators and energy harvesters. Recognition for her contributions has come in the form of the IIUM’s Most Promising Researcher Award in 2010 and the IIUM’s Most Outstanding Researcher Award in 2014. These trailblazing innovations have garnered acclaim on the international and local stages, including exhibitions like IENA in Nuremberg and the British Invention Show in London.
