Sunday is wallpaper day on iDownloadBlog. The section is quite popular and is a running compilation back more than a year. Despite posting more than 75 individual wallpaper posts with more than one image per post, I have yet to feature a specific genre of images.

Thanks to the engaged iDownloadBlog audience, the Wallpapers of the Week section has lasted so long. There are many wallpapers out there, but it is more difficult to find excellent images each week. If you have a few favorites or maybe several of your own, send them over for consideration! You can engage with me @jim_gresham, to submit, chat, or even see other wallpapers I find throughout the week. Keep in mind, any wallpapers must be natively formatted for at least the latest iOS devices.

Together with our friends from Final Frontier, we worked hand in hand with VIVO Mobile brand to create 3 live Wallpapers for its new Android operating system.

These wallpapers would come to life through the pedometer. It is a flower that blooms while the mobile user walks during the day.

After a long process of RnD and a tireless search for the correct art direction, the client guided us towards the Look and Feel they were looking for.

To show this project we have prepared a video where we show that blooming, guiding the viewer through that journey through the delicacy that we sought to convey with these wallpapers.

I analyzed over 800 modern (sold in 2023) laptops and over 500 desktop monitors and used the data from millions of online users to find the most common screen resolutions and, thus, the wallpaper sizes. I also checked iPhones, iPads, and iMac displays from 2014 onward (iPhone 6).

The most common wallpaper size for desktops is 19201080 pixels, called FHD (full high-definition), with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Other popular wallpapers include 25601440 pixels (QHD) and 38402160 pixels (4K). The older HD resolution of 1280720 pixels and the semi-FHD 1600900 are not as popular anymore.

Laptop wallpapers are generally smaller because laptop screens have smaller resolutions than desktop computers. The most common laptop wallpaper size is 19201080px (FHD), followed by 1366768px (HD). QHD and 4K are still quite rare, although more and more laptops have high-resolution displays.

In general, it seems that the resolution of the iPhone wallpaper has been increasing over time. For example, the iPhone 6 has a lower resolution than the iPhone XS Max, which was released several years later. This trend will likely continue as newer models of the iPhone are released with higher resolutions and larger screens.

It is also worth noting that there are some variations in the wallpaper dimensions among the different models within a given year, such as the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. This suggests that Apple considers the specific features and dimensions of each individual model when designing the wallpaper dimensions.

Like the iPhone, the iPad wallpaper size has been increasing through the different generations of the device. The resolution of the iPad wallpaper ranges from 2048  2732 pixels for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro to 1536  2048 pixels for the original iPad mini.

The wallpaper size for the iPhone 12 models is as follows: iPhone 12 (11702532 pixels), iPhone 12 mini (11252436 pixels), iPhone 12 Pro (11702532 pixels), and iPhone 12 Pro Max (12842778 pixels).

To set videos as live wallpapers on an Android device, you'll need to install a third-party app like Video to Wallpaper. The app is quite simple to use, and I'm sure most of you will be able to figure out the process by yourself. But if you face any issues, here's a quick overview of how you can use it to set any video as a live wallpaper on your phone:

The live wallpaper should now appear on your homescreen and/or lockscreen based on your selection. You can follow the same steps to change the live wallpaper whenever you please. All the live wallpapers you pick in step 4 will appear on the app's homescreen for easy access, so you'll be able to switch between them without following steps 2 and 3 every time.

Video to Wallpaper is one of the simplest apps you can use to set videos as live wallpapers on your Android phone. I picked it over the other apps mentioned below for one simple reason: It's ad-free. If you're looking for an app that offers more controls and customization options or is easier to use, you should check out the alternatives mentioned below.

Sadly, this feature won't let you set a video as a live wallpaper on the homescreen. You'll still have to rely on a third-party app for that purpose. Thankfully, there are quite a few options out there. We've already talked about the Video to Wallpaper app. Now let's take a look at four other apps that you can use for this purpose.

You can tap on the Video button to pick the wallpaper you wish to use, select it on the following screen, check the preview, tap on the Set wallpaper button, and apply it to either the homescreen or both the homescreen and the lock screen.

For those who need some additional customization options, the Video Live Wallpaper app is another great alternative. The app not only lets you set any video as a live wallpaper on your homescreen or lock screen, but it also gives you a couple of additional settings to trim the video, enable/disable audio, and scale the video to fit the screen.

Additionally, the app offers a Color tab that you can use to set a solid color static wallpaper on your phone. However, the app has a couple of drawbacks. It has a persistent ad banner at the top, its UI looks outdated, and the video selection screen isn't the most ideal.

The Wallpapers free app offers a vast selection of live and static wallpapers across various categories. On top of that, it lets you set your own videos as live wallpapers. However, the process isn't exactly straightforward. To set your own videos as live wallpapers, tap on the hamburger menu button in the top left corner of the app's homescreen. Select the Photos and videos on your device option in the menu, tap on Accept on the following page, and then pick a video from your phone's internal storage.

Once again, the app's video browser isn't great, so looking for the video you want to set as a live wallpaper might be a bit difficult. The app also has large banner ads and the occasional pop-up ad, which may turn away many users. On the upside, the app offers a bunch of additional live and static wallpapers. It even includes an auto-change wallpaper feature with which you can set up a couple of static wallpapers to cycle on your homescreen automatically.

The Video Wallpaper app is another simple alternative that lets you set any video as a live wallpaper with just a couple of taps. The app's homescreen shows a list of videos from your internal storage that you can use as live wallpaper. Sadly, tapping on any video brings up a full-screen ad. After you remove the ad, the app gives you a couple of customization options that let you turn on audio on the live wallpaper, scale to fit the screen, and double-tap to start/pause the live wallpaper.

To set a live wallpaper, tap on the 'Set as launcher wallpaper' button, check the preview, and tap on 'Set wallpaper.' The app lets you set videos as live wallpapers on just the homescreen or the homescreen and lock screen both. Out of all the apps mentioned on this list, the Video Wallpaper app was the most annoying to use because of the sheer number of ads.

Vivo Themes is a free personalization app developed by KHUN SOE ZAW THU. This wallpaper solution provides an array of stunning designs that can completely revamp the look of your device, rendering it new and appealing. The vibrant images boast high-resolution quality.

With a diversified selection of photos, Vivo Themes can cater to varied tastes and preferences. You can find a wide range of captivating visuals, ranging from adorable cartoon characters to scenic photos. Plus, the wallpapers are dynamically altered by an advanced algorithmic system. It is important to note that this app only supports Vivo devices.

One way to assert your personality is by selecting a wallpaper that best represents your personal style and ideal. Vivo Themes understands the concept of uniqueness; hence, it offers tons of image displays that speak for the most mundane to the grandest of moments and everything in between. In addition, wallpapers are categorized systematically based on subjects and interests for an efficient glance-through.

However, while personalization is a key feature, it falls behind other wallpaper giants, such as Bing Wallpaper, as the latter offers an incomparable vast library of photos. Another key feature of the app is its algorithmic system that utilizes the user's set of preferences and trends picked up by the platform. Consequently, the app offers suitable alternatives by considering the user's previous selections.

Undoubtedly, the wallpapers provided by Vivo Themes deliver aesthetic value to compatible devices. However, with a fairly limited selection of available themes compared to its bigger competitors, it may not be the best choice for those who love discovering charming images to use on their devices. Additionally, its incompatibility with non-Vivo devices restricts its accessibility to a large number of users.

For now, we only have 14 Vivo NEX 3 5G wallpapers for download. The wallpaper is exactly the same featured in the official render of the Vivo NEX 3 5G. We think the wallpaper does look and feel abstractive, cool, bright and vivid. As in, the wallpaper seems to be perfect for DroidViewers to show off on their AMOLED equipped smartphones.
