Orcad 10.5 License File: How to Update and Configure It
Orcad is a popular software suite for electronic design automation (EDA). It is used by engineers and technicians to create electronic schematics, perform mixed-signal simulation, and generate electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards (PCBs) . Orcad 10.5 is an older version of the software that was released in 2006, but it still has many features and functions that are useful for various design projects . However, to use Orcad 10.5, you need a valid license file that contains information about your license server and the products you are licensed to use. In this article, we will show you how to update and configure your Orcad 10.5 license file in different scenarios.
Update License File
If you have modified the products you are licensed to use, or if your license file has expired, you need to update your license file with a new one provided by Cadence, the company that owns Orcad. To update your license file, you can use the License Server Configuration Utility that is included in the Orcad installation. To access this utility, select Cadence from the Windows Start menu, then go to License Manager > License Server Configuration . In the Cadence License Server Configuration interface, specify the location of the new license file (license.dat) that you have saved in your local directory, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the license server setup . A compatible version of License Manager will be installed and configured to use the specified license file for the installed applications.
