Caboose 90712 History
Caboose 90712 History
The C&O's 90700–90799 series of cabooses, which includes #90712, was built by the Standard Steel Car Company in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 1924. When built, the cabooses in this series were painted red with a black roof. They were later repainted in the C&O's yellow & blue scheme with a red strip on the lower section in the 1950s. The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway eventually became part of the Chessie System and later merged into CSX Transportation.
Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) caboose #90712 is a center-cupola caboose located in Olive Hill, Kentucky. The caboose was moved in June 2023 from its previous location at the John "Hop" Brown Memorial Park to the Olive Hill Welcome Center, at the site of the former C&O station.
