Alien Quarter and Downbelow
You asked a BabCom terminal for information about Brown Sector...
Brown Sector provides multiple alternative environments to accommodate the needs of non-human visitors to Babylon 5, ranging from the lo-grav suites on level 1, to the hi-grav suites on level 95. Up to six alternative atmospheres are available on request, including mixes for carbon dioxide and methane-breathing species. All human visitors to the Alien Quarter should take an oxygen breather mask. Brown Sector extends to the hull of Babylon 5, where waste reclamation facilities are found.
Places to Visit
Recycling Facility: Everything on Babylon 5, from water to biological waste, must be recycled. The various industrial plants that cater to this need are here in Brown Sector, since the alien species don't care about the strong smells! Reclaimed waste is piped here from Downbelow.
Pak'ma'ra Quarter: The Pak'ma'ra are a recently spacefaring coleoid race, with a long and distinguished pre-contact culture, based on philosophy and music. They are carrion eaters. Visitors should have a strong constitution.
Abbai Quarter: The Abbai are a highly developed amphibious race, with a matriarchal society. The Abbai are leaders in the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, which unites many of the smaller spacefaring races.
Drazi Quarter: The Drazi are a reptilian race with a long military history. They are mostly peaceful now, except for the ritual period where the entire race splits into two Green and Purple factions.
Vree Quarter: The Vree are a diminutive humanoid race with a history of visiting Earth in the past to conduct scientific experiments on humans. Visitors should take a translator to understand Vree symbols.
Llort Quarter: The Llort are a reptilian race with a pack-rat mentality. They collect anything and everything. Look after your possessions carefully when visiting.
Brakiri Quarter: The Brakiri are a humanoid race with a long spacefaring tradition. For them, a comet is a symbol of death and is celebrated only during the Day of the Dead, a religious festival.
Gaim Quarter: The Gaim are an insectoid race, controlled by a Hive Queen. Gaim emissaries are genetically engineered to appear more humanoid, but need environment suits and translators.
MedLab Facility: Babylon 5 has 6 MedLab facilities. MedLab 5 is based in the Alien Quarter, on level 10. MedLab 6 is a voluntary clinic run by Dr Franklin in Downbelow.
Downbelow: Brown Sector extends to the triple-skinned hull of the Babylon 5 Station. Apart from the waste reclamation facilities, this part of the station is undeveloped and inhabited by bands unfortunates, known as lurkers, who try to live off the black market. Watch out for criminal gangs and pick-pockets.
