Dr. Kar is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, India, since 2018. He has over 14 years of teaching, research and industrial experience. He received his doctoral degree from NIT Rourkela in 2015 under the guidance of Prof. S. K. Panda in the field of Computational Solid Mechanics. His research interests are Nonlinear Finite Element Method, Advanced Composite Structures, Computational Mechanics and Shape Optimization. So far, he authored (and co-authored) over 100 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, books and conferences in the field of modeling and analysis of composite structures. He is also the Editorial Board Member of the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, the Achieves of Advanced Engineering Science, and Green Nanotechnology. He has handled and also handling various research projects as Principal Investigator (and Co-PI) funded by government and private agencies. He already guided 05 PhD thesis and also presently guiding 06 PhD students. He is the recipient of Research Award 2016 from VIT University, Vellore, India; Early Career Research Award 2017 from Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, and also received Young Scientist and Researcher Awards from various National and International agencies. He has been recognized as one of the Top 2% Scientists in the World, published in Elsevier by Stanford University for year 2021, 2022 and 2023. He also portrait in Who’s Who in Engineering Higher Education and Shell Buckling People. He is a recongnised reviewer for many reputed international journals in the field of analysis of composite structures. He is the lifetime member of Indian Society for Applied Mechanics, Institute of Engineers (India), and few other national and international engineering societies.
Apart from teaching and research activities, he has been involved in various administration activities. He served as Associate Dean (Research & Consultancy) from 2020-2022, and presently holding the position of Associate Dean (Academic: Recognition & Accreditation).
