For students with dysgraphia, the SDI, Teacher will Scribe, is added to the IEP to support a student's inability to handwrite or compose.
Students can utilize the dictation feature of their chromebook to perform this function.
Here is a video that will show you how!
Here are step by step directions to enable the dictation accessibility function:
open the System Menu
click on Settings
type in Accessibility Features in the Search Bar
open Manage Accessibility Features
Scroll down to Keyboard and Text Input
enable Dictation/Speak to Type and a microphone icon should appear in your task bar
Once the dictation tool is enabled, to utilize the tool, please follow these steps:
place your cursor in the editable field that you would like to type
click on the microphone icon located in the task bar
listen for a bell to ring
begin speaking (HINT: at first it is easier to talk without looking at the words typing because it can be distracting)
when you are done speaking, listen for the bell to ring again notifying you that the dictation feature is not longer enabled
