Use of Assignment Book

Students who struggle with executive function may need support in managing their homework with the use of an assignment book. LMS's like Canvas, Schoology, and Google Classroom, when appropriately used, will generate a digital assignment book. Below is a sample of how to use the features in Canvas to substitute as assignment book.

CANVAS

In Canvas, students and parents will have access to a To Do list that automatically appears on their Dashboard and a Calendar that can be accessed through the Dashboard that will provide students with information about what is due.

On the right side of the Dashboard, students will be provided a list of activities, in chronological order based on due dates, that includes a hyperlink to the assignment, the course in which the assignment was assigned, the point value and the due date. In addition, it will provide an emoji notifying the student of the nature of the assignment. To utilize the to do list as an assignment book, teachers simply have to provide accurate due dates when assigning quizzes, discussion, and assignments. Content pages can be added to the To Do list by clicking "add to student To-Do" when editing the assignment. In addition, students are provided a "Coming Up" section under the To Do which informs the students for future assignments.

In addition, students have the option of utilizing the calendar to manage their assignments.
