Solve for the following: Pop + Gospel + Blues + Jazz = _____. You guessed it -- Rhythm & Blues. Beginning in the Post-World War II era, soldiers returning home from war brought with them a lot of stories, sadness, anger, and loss. Funneled into a world that had just seen the horrifying effects of the atomic bomb and war-related tragedies made the world's future that much more uncertain. With the decline of the Big Bands due to World War II and the 1940s, the jukebox took its place on the music scene and record companies started to take advantage of the benefits of recording (and selling) music. This gave way to a host of new musical styles and opportunities for the pop music star to take the stage.
