This year’s inaugural event includes student work that has been inspired by various artists and cultures throughout history. In celebration of the visual arts, you will experience a variety of media and project ideas, such as African American masks inspired by Kimmy Cantrell; botanical art; Piet Mondrian inspired race cars; zentangle designs, perspective drawings, digital mosaics, & symbolism self-portraits; drawings from observations that highlight positive and negative space; and sculptures in the style of Swedish artist Alberto Giacometti.
In celebration of the performing arts, you will see a variety of solo, small group, and ensemble performances, including a famous American Shaker melody attributed to Elder Joseph Brackett. You will also find some sequential singing, a number of short skits using student screenwriting and photo-video montages, a fully-edited audio play, and even an original song or two!
We extend a very special thank you to the Middlesex School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department. This group of talented, passionate, and dedicated educators has spent a considerable amount of time planning and preparing for this event. We also applaud our Board of Education for the enduring support of the Arts here in Middlesex Borough. Now more than ever, the arts provide an opportunity to celebrate many of the most important tenets of our civilization, including diversity, equity, and inclusivity. We are all proud - beyond words - of our scholar artists and we cannot wait for you to see what they have been working on throughout the school year.
We invite you to step inside our virtual event as the proverbial curtain lifts on what will undoubtedly be a celebration of the arts for years to come!
Congratulations to all of our scholar artists!
