These concurrent sessions will take place in different Zoom rooms.
Session Description
During this session, we will share how we developed and implemented GenAI institutes for faculty at two very different institutions - a large public R1 and small private school. The goal for this GenAI institute was for our faculty to engage in community to better understand GenAI, refine their values related to GenAI, and develop an activity to engage students with GenAI that aligns with these values. We will describe our “pAIr” framework and how it was institutionalized in our unique contexts. Then, participants will be given time, either individually or in breakout rooms, to consider how they could adapt our framework for their own institution context while recognizing the values of their stakeholders and where resistance is likely. We hope participants will come away with more ideas on how they can help faculty explore GenAI to have clearer values related to its use in the classroom and how they can live those values through integrating GenAI into their courses.
Key Takeaways
Reflect on strategies to support faculty development of values and practices around GenAI.
Analyze your own institution’s values relate to GenAI and identify potential areas for resistance and growth.
Apply our GenAI framework to their own institutional contexts while considering their faculty’s values, knowledge, and awareness of GenAI.
Session Description
During this session, I will briefly share stories and frameworks from my work with neurodivergent students and faculty communities, followed by an interactive reflection activity where participants can consider their own values and strategies for working with diverse student populations.
Key Takeaways
Participants will gain strategies for intentionally centering neurodiversity and disability identity in educational development work.
Attendees will explore how values-driven practices can build community and support both student and educator well-being.
Concrete examples of inclusive mentoring models, accessible course design, and national collaboration will be shared.
