Virtual Loudoun Online (VLO) offers courses through Schoology using content aligned to the Standards of Learning to provide new educational opportunities for students. Virtual Loudoun Online courses are full-year courses offered in a condensed term. Students should expect to dedicate 140 hours to complete a one-credit course within the term period. LCPS also uses other online vendors to offer courses.

VLO is only open to middle school students during our Summer Term 3 for select course options. High School students can register for an additional class to be taken virtually (an eighth credit earned during the academic year) and the coursework they are taking in their home school program. Students work at their own pace, utilizing the recommended assignment submission schedule, with the opportunity to connect with their teacher by appointment for support and assistance as needed. Please review the VLO FAQs webpage for additional details, including how many virtual classes LCPS students can take.

Virtual Distance Learning (VDL) is a program that offers synchronous, daily instruction via Google Meet & Schoology. Students enrolled in Virtual Distance Learning will take all of their classes online without attending a brick-and-mortar school in person. Students enrolled in Virtual Distance Learning commit to distance learning for the entire school year.

VDL is a full-time, synchronous, secondary, virtual school program. Students log into their online classes daily via a regular bell schedule, engaging in live instruction with cameras on, utilizing their microphones, and participating in the live class chat and activities. Please review the VDL FAQs webpage for additional details, including course availability.

Please let us know what you think of the tour and how the experience can be improved. Send your feedback to the NMNH Web Team.

Families do not pay tuition for a student to attend an online public school. Common household items and office supplies, like printer ink and paper, are not provided. Our enrollment consultants can help address your technology and computer questions and needs.

When you save a credit or debit card to your Google Account, you may be able to turn on a virtual card number. Virtual card numbers can be shared with merchants for online or in-app transactions to keep your actual card number info more secure.

Virtual cards are a safer way to pay online or in-app. When you use a virtual card to make a purchase, the app replaces your physical card number with a unique virtual card number. When you check out, the virtual number hides your personal payment details and helps to protect you against fraud.

Tip: The virtual card number, expiration date, and CVC may be different from your physical card. For added security, some card issuers change your virtual card number or CVC for different merchants or transactions.

No, the virtual card number replaces your physical card number, but is used the same way. Your credit line, balance, fees, and transaction info stay the same. You use your virtual card number during the checkout process. Instead of your actual card info, the merchant gets your virtual card number, expiration date, and CVC.

To make a return, or pick up an item in store that you bought with a virtual card, you may have to find the last 4 digits of your virtual card number. The last 4 digits of your virtual card are different from your physical card. To find the virtual card number, refer to the receipt from the merchant or go to your card issuer website. If neither of these have the last 4 digits you can contact your bank for support.

The morning of your hearing, the hearing calendar will be posted. Search for the initial of your first name and the first three letters of your last name then click on your assigned hearing room link. For example, John Smith would be posted, J. SMI. You will be placed in our virtual waiting room until the hearing examiner starts the hearing session.

Virtual hearings are an official court appearance and all persons participating in one must dress and conduct themselves as if they are physically going into a courtroom. Business casual clothing is acceptable. Persons not dressed appropriately and/or who conduct themselves in an unacceptable manner will be asked to leave the hearing or be expelled. All virtual hearing activity is subject to recording and broadcasting.

MACC utilizes Canvas to deliver online courses. Students are expected to participate in a variety of ways including posting in threaded discussions, reading, watching or listening to lectures, and submitting assignments in Canvas. Online courses are offered each fall, spring, and summer semester. There is not a set time students must access the course. However, students must actively participate each week and meet assignment deadlines specified by the instructor.

Hybrid courses combine a traditional classroom setting with an online component. Hybrid courses meet 50 percent of the class time in a traditional classroom setting and 50 percent of the class time online. Hybrid courses use Canvas to facilitate course work and virtual classroom interaction between students, their peers, and faculty members. Students may participate in threaded discussions, submit assignments online, read or watch lectures, and complete various other assignments in a hybrid course.

Hybrids offer the convenience and flexibility of online courses combined with the ability to work directly with your instructor and your peers. In return for this flexibility and convenience, students take responsibility for their learning by using time management skills and staying current with readings and assignments. Logging in to the course on a regular basis provides access to important class information as well as communication with fellow students and the professor.

Virtual courses allow students to attend class from the comfort of their own homes via Zoom. Zoom is an online instructional delivery system allowing real-time interaction between the instructor and the student from a remote location. Its features include two-way audio with microphone and speakers, text messaging, shared whiteboard, a note-taking feature, and file sharing. Students will log into Canvas to access their virtual room. Student may also be required to retrieve or submit assignments in Canvas.

Virtual exchange (VE), including one of its most comprehensive forms, collaborative online international learning (COIL), provides students with affordable opportunities to gain global competencies within their coursework wherever they are. It links together students and classrooms around the world through co-taught multicultural and blended online course work, bridging the physical distance between students through technological means.

Join us in addressing the pressing issues of our time through collaborative international education initiatives. The Fulbright US-UK Global Challenges Teaching Awards, supported by AAC&U in partnership with the US-UK Fulbright Commission, offers a unique opportunity for faculty from both sides of the Atlantic to co-create virtual exchange programs for undergraduate students. This initiative fosters transatlantic partnerships aimed at addressing four specific global challenges: Racial Justice, Inequality, Climate Change, Polarisation and Division. Selected grantees and supporting institutional teams will embark on a year-long journey with the AAC&U Institute on VE/COIL with professional development, online collaboration, and in-person exchanges with their partner institutions.

These meetings are designed to assist applicants in creating online accounts and learning the digital project submittal permitting system for a future successful submittal process.
