I am a development economist with most of my research centering around questions in public economics and labor economics, and health economics. I use experimental and quasi-experimental methods and often work jointly with NGOs and government partners.
I work as a tenured Senior Researcher at the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) in Bergen (Norway) and contribute to the work at the Development Learning Lab (DLL), an initiative by CMI, the Norwegian School of Economics and the University of Bergen. I provide evidence-based advice to development organizations and lead learning networks as well as impact evaluation incubators for development practitioners.
I am a principal investigator (PI) at the Inclusion Economics India Centre (formerly Evidence for Policy Design India) and was a PI at the Excellence Cluster "The Politics of Inequality" at the University of Konstanz (2021-2025) responsible for two large-scale projects on career guidance in India and the targeting of social pensions in Bangladesh.
My research has been funded by the Research Council of Norway, German Science Foundation through the Excellence Strategy, International Growth Centre, Swiss National Science Foundation, the Thurgau Institute of Economics and the Research Council of Norway.
