VintSnap (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an antique identification app that helps you identify items from photos, scan barcodes where applicable, and organize your finds. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
A. Content You Provide
Photos you take or upload (e.g., item images used for identification).
B. Device Permissions
To use the scan & identification feature, the app will request:
Camera (to take photos for identification or scanning)
Photos/Media (to upload an existing image)
You can deny these permissions; but the identification feature will not work without them.
C. Automatically Collected Data
App usage data (e.g., screens viewed, feature usage, crash logs, performance metrics)
Device information (device model, OS version, app version, language)
Approximate location (only collected by analytics/ads SDKs, typically at a coarse level)
We do not intentionally collect precise location unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it (if any).
We use data to:
Provide core features (identify items, generate descriptions, estimate categories/attributes/price)
Improve results and user experience (bug fixes, performance, feature improvements)
Maintain security and prevent abuse
Provide customer support
Measure app performance and understand feature adoption
When you request identification:
Your image and/or prompt may be sent to AI processing services to generate results (e.g., category suggestions, era/style hints, maker clues, estimated attributes, and similar).
We only send what is necessary to perform the requested action.
Important note: AI results are best-effort estimates and may be inaccurate. You should verify important details with expert sources before purchases, appraisals, restoration, or insurance decisions.
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited data with:
Service providers that help us operate the app (analytics, crash reporting, cloud storage, AI processing, payment/subscription providers)
Legal or safety reasons if required by law or to protect users and our rights
These providers are required to protect data and use it only for the purposes of providing their services.
If you subscribe, purchases are handled by Google Play Billing. We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive purchase-related status such as subscription entitlement state (e.g., active/expired) to unlock features.
We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business purposes (e.g., security, compliance, troubleshooting).
You can:
Control permissions in your device settings (Camera, Photos/Media, etc.)
Limit analytics collection where supported by your OS/app settings
Request support for data questions or deletion (see Contact section)
VintSnap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us to remove it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own depending on where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may be communicated in-app or on our listing where appropriate.
