Behavioral ecology | Communication | Sexual selection
Hello and welcome!
I am a behavioral ecologist interested in animal communication and sexual selection. One of my main research interests has been to uncover factors that drive the evolution of multimodal signals in the context of sexual selection, from the perspective of both males and females.
Questions that I aim to investigate include: How does female body condition modulates signal preference? What are the environmental correlates of signal efficacy, and how does efficacy-based selection trades-off with content-based selection? What is the role of female preference in the evolution of signal repertoires? What is the role of interindividual variation in multimodal signal evolution?
The wordcloud resumes the topics that my researches have covered over the past thirteen years. The topics highlighted in neon ink are those that I have focused on since I finished my PhD: multimodal communication, sexual selection and reproductive biology of frogs.
Currently, I supervise research and teache ecology and zoology at the State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil.
