RUTLAND—Mayor Tyler M. Eblin and Code Enforcement Officer Austin Beck are announcing a new initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating Village residents’ efforts to maintain attractive and well-kept yards.
The Yard of the Month Program will highlight and share the Village’s special appreciation to a Village resident each calendar month—January, February and December, excluded—for taking pride in helping to beautify the community.
The Program will be administered by the Yard of the Month Program Panel, which will consist of the President of Council, Code Enforcement Officer and Street Commissioner, who will collectively meet in the Mayor’s Office once monthly to review properties nominated for selection as Yard of the Month, and select, by majority vote, the property to receive the award.
Mayor Eblin explains any person can nominate a property, or multiple properties, each month by filing a nomination with the Village Clerk-Fiscal Officer. All nominations received will be reviewed by the Program Panel the first week of each month, with the property selected as Yard of the Month announced the first Friday of each month.
Announcements of Yard of the Month will include a proclamation by the Mayor, a yard sign, and photograph with the property owner or current resident.
“The Yard of the Month Program aims to recognize and demonstrate appreciation by Village officials and residents to property owners for their continuous efforts to take pride in beautifying the community,” comments Mayor Eblin. “We value the work of all of our citizens who work hard every day to make our Village an appealing community to visit, work and live, and this program is an opportunity to showcase these very efforts.”
The Program will begin in August, 2025, and continue during the months of March through November, annually.
