RUTLAND, Ohio — Preparations are currently underway for the replacement of a collapsed culvert pipe along Beech Grove Road near the Village corporation limit. Mayor Tyler M. Eblin explains the culvert is a clay culvert most likely installed prior to 1950. The culvert leads to catch basin constructed of brick, which will also require replacement, according to Eblin.
Village purchase procedures require the Mayor to approve a requisition filed with the Village Clerk-Fiscal Officer, who will then be required to issue a certificate certifying public funds are available and encumbered in the Village treasury to complete the work required. Eblin notes the project isn't anticipated to exceed $3,000.00.
"The Village is aware of the drainage issue along Beech Grove Road, most likely caused by a collapsed culvert pipe, and is actively working to devise and implement a repair plan," comments Mayor Eblin. "Once a final cost estimate is obtained, and the Village Clerk-Fiscal Officer releases the public funds necessary, the repair project will begin, although an exact timeline is unknown at this time."
Eblin is cautioning those traveling along Beech Grove Road, and be mindful of standing water in the roadway. Road closures or restrictions are not yet planned; however, will be announced once the project is slated to begtin. Questions may be directed Mayor Tyler M. Eblin by telephoning (740) 742-2121, extension 1005.
