Rutland Halloween Spooktacular Voted Best Annual Festival of River Cities

RUTLAND, Ohio — Mayor Tyler M. Eblin and Councilor Madalyn Wood are pleased to announce the Rutland Halloween Spooktacular has been voted “The Best of River Cities Annual Festival” during the 2026 Best of River Cities Contest.

The contest, annually presented by the River Cities Tribune & Register, receives nominations in several categories for participants to vote as the best nominee, with Rutland’s annual Halloween Spooktacular at Rutland Civic Center selected as the winner in the annual festival category.

“The Village of Rutland and I are truly grateful and honored for the community’s overwhelming support of the Rutland Halloween Spooktacular,” comments Mayor Eblin. “The backing of our patrons, along with the very generous support of our sponsors, most recently Seabolt & Co Modern Apothecary, have truly transformed this annual event into a destination the community eagerly looks forward to each year.”

“Being a part of the Spooktacular is an incredible experience, one that would not be possible without the generosity of our donors, and those who participant in the event’s success,” comments Councilor Wood. “From the bottom of our hearts, we say ‘thank you’, and are eager to celebrate with you during our 2026 event.

The Rutland Halloween Spooktacular combines traditional Trick-or-Treat with a Halloween dance, costume judging contest, and a haunted house at Rutland Civic Center that continues to grow more eerie each year.

“Much credit goes to Councilor Wood, who works tirelessly each year to organize and implement the Spooktacular”, comments Mayor Eblin. “From decoration, to costuming, to directing our actors, Councilor Wood works diligently to ensure every participant truly enjoys their experience.” 

The event is held in October of each year. Mayor Eblin explains the event will continue to coincide with Trick-or-Treat night, with additional tours to be made available the following Friday and Saturday nights.

“Screams and scares are heard and seen throughout the haunted house, reactions to the many ghosts and ghouls that come to haunt the building at Halloween,” comments Mayor Eblin. “If you’ve never attended the Spooktacular at Rutland Civic Center, I highly encourage you to do so.” 

The Village of Rutland extends a special appreciation to the River Cities Tribune & Register for this opportunity, and award.
