Mayor Issues Statement on Postponement of Easter Egg Hunt

RUTLAND, Ohio — The Rutland Mayor's Office is postponing a Village-sponsored Easter egg hunt in the Village of Rutland this year. The decision was made taking into consideration the Village's budget reductions, and the desire to "regroup", allowing the Village to plan for a more improved Easter egg hunt the following year. In making this decision, Mayor Tyler M. Eblin has made the following statement:

"It is with regret the Rutland Mayor's Office announces its decision to postpone the Easter egg hunt for the 2026 Easter holiday. While the decision to postpone is difficult, such was made as the Village seeks to improve the cash reserves in the Village treasury, realign priorities, and regroup to build on prior egg hunts to ensure the 2027 Easter egg hunt is the best egg hunt the Village has implemented thus far. While our Village event will not occur this year, several others will be implemented throughout the county, and I encourage all Rutland citizens and surrounding families to participate in and support these events. In the interim, my Office and I appreciates your understanding, and continued support in the parks and recreational programs of Rutland Village."

Mayor Eblin notes the cash reserves in the Village treasury are not a concern given the Village's current fiscal solvency, however, should be improved to ensure cash balances are sufficient at the end of the fiscal year to meet any financial obligations during the first quarter of the following year. To accomplish this, Mayor Eblin explains eliminating costs, especially those incurred through events with low attendance, will aid the Village in accomplishing this goal.
