RUTLAND, Ohio — Mayor Tyler M. Eblin and Village Code Enforcement Officer Austin Beck, in partnership with the Meigs County Land Reutilization Corporation, are pleased to announce the planned demolition of five blighted structures in the Village of Rutland.
The structures include the former Rutland Post Office building, located at 34 Main Street, as well as four residential structures addressed at 672 Brick Street, 680 Brick Street, 18 Depot Street, 54 Depot Street and 56 Depot Street.
The demolition of these structures is anticipated to occur before December 31, 2025. According to Mayor Eblin, structures addressed at 34 Main Street and 448 Main Street will require environmental remediation, which requires an increase in the allocation of funds for those structures. Because of this, funding will be reallocated from 243 Main Street to finance the cost of the environmental remediation of 34 Main Street, and the demolition of 448 Main Street will be postponed until additional funding is available.
Funding will originate from the Ohio Building and Site Demolition and Revitalization Program, and will be administered by the Ohio Department of Development and the MCLRC.
A Special Appreciation from the Mayor and Village Council
Is extended to the Meigs County Land Reutilization Corporation Board of Directors, and to the Meigs County Board of Commissioners, for their sincerest dedication in the service of the Village of Rutland through ensuring funding for the abatement of community blight, and the restoration of public health, safety, comfort and welfare.
