Mayor Announces Grant Received for Former Miller's Gas Station Property

RUTLAND, Ohio — Mayor Tyler M. Eblin is announcing the Ohio Department of Development has awarded the Village of Rutland $14,834.00 in funding through the Abandoned Gas Station Clean-Up Program to benefit the former site of the Miller's Gas Station.

Funding awarded through the Abandoned Gas Station Clean-Up Program will be used for site assessment, installing a new ground water monitoring well, well development and sampling, and a summary letter report. Mayor Eblin explains these final steps are necessary to ensure full completion of site remediation and the safety of the general public.

"The Village of Rutland extends its sincerest appreciation to Tetra Tech for their continued professional and technical assistance in the remediation of the former site of the Miller's Gas Station," comments Mayor Eblin. "These next steps are key to a full completion of the abatement and clean-up project, which serves as a major achievement for the people of our community."

Mayor Eblin continues, "Most importantly, we owe our sincerest gratitude to the Ohio Department of Development for ensuring the Village of Rutland is part of its $1.2-million investment to support community enhancement and growth of business."

The Miller's Gas Station was demolished in June, 2023, with extended site remediation following abatement of the structure. In 2023, the Village received grant funding through the Abandoned Gas Station Clean-Up Program just shy of $250,000.00 for the completion of the abatement and remediation project, with the 2026 grant aimed at completing any remaining remediation work required on the site.
