RUTLAND, Ohio — Understanding the jurisdiction of the Rutland Mayor's Office is important when working to resolve various issues in the Village of Rutland. While the staff at the Mayor's Office are eager to assist all Village residents in any manner possible, the Mayor's Office is limited by law regarding the types of matters it may address.

The Rutland Mayor's Office addresses matters involving criminal complaints, or matters which involve the preservation of the public peace. These issues include arrest warrants and warrants upon complaint, bench warrants, code violations, criminal trespassing, violations of misdemeanor criminal and traffic law, and warrants to keep the peace.

Matters which are outside the jurisdiction of the Rutland Mayor's Office include civil issues, such as contractual agreements; annulments, dissolutions or divorces; family cases or matters; property boundary disputes and other probate or civil matters.

If you are experiencing a non-emergency issue in the Village of Rutland involving a criminal or traffic complaint, code violation, criminal trespassing, or threats or harassment, you are urged to contact the Mayor's Office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., and Office staff will assist you in the next steps to file your complaint, which will be referred to the Marshal's Office or Solicitor's Office.
