Over on the Resources page, we've listed dozens of links to all kinds of information, and we encourage you to explore these for answers to many questions about cohousing as well as about resources in the Durham area. But in thinking about whether this community is a good fit for you, meeting and talking with members is the single most useful resource. On this page, we describe several programs we have developed to help you get to know us, and vice versa. These include virtual meetings over Zoom as well as options for on-site interactions.
Meet and Greet (M&G) is a structured presentation about our community presented by three to five community members. Subjects include who we are and how we got here, information about our homes and the Common House, and discussions about things to do in the Durham area. M&G happens on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:00pm - 7:00pm Eastern time
Participants are asked to register in advance for this meeting.
Have some questions that didn't get addressed in the Meet & Greet, or want to go on a deeper dive about something, then check out An Hour With VIllage Hearth. These meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:00 - 7:00 Eastern time. Participants are requested to register in advance for this meeting.
We strongly encourage anyone who is seriously considering joining us to visit for a day or two (or longer). We have a comfortable guest room in the Common House with a full bathroom en suite. If you can, time your visit to coincide with either our Thursday community supper or our lively Happy Hour get-togethers on Friday evenings. Or...why not both?! Use the contact information below to arrange a visit.
Last but definitely not least, if you want to keep up with what's going on at Village Hearth, follow us on Substack and get notified when our latest newsletter is posted.
