This Privacy Policy explains how the Videous mobile application (the “App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. Videous is a free movie and TV-show discovery app powered by the public The Movie Database (TMDB) API.
Plain-English summary. Videous does not require an account, does not collect your name, email, or location, and does not run its own analytics. The App displays advertising through a third-party SDK (AppLovin MAX), which may collect a limited set of device-level data strictly to deliver and measure ads. You can disable personalized ads at any time through your device or the in-app consent dialog where it is offered.
Videous does not ask you to sign in, register, or fill out any forms. The only data you actively create is your local “My List” — movies and TV shows you save to watch later. This list is stored only on your device using on-device storage (Hive / Shared Preferences). We never receive or see it.
Videous itself does not transmit personal information to any server we operate. However, the following technical interactions take place:
TMDB API requests. When you browse movies, TV shows, cast, or trailers, the App sends read-only requests to TMDB (themoviedb.org). These requests reveal your IP address to TMDB, as is normal for any web request. We do not send your account information (you don’t have one), preferences, or My List.
Advertising SDK. When ads are shown, the AppLovin MAX SDK and its mediation partners may receive device-level data described in Section 3.
Trailer playback. Trailers are played via YouTube’s embedded player. YouTube’s own privacy practices apply during playback — see policies.google.com/privacy.
Because we do not collect personal information server-side, we use data only for the following local, on-device purposes:
To display movie and TV-show content fetched from TMDB.
To remember your “My List” entries on your device.
To remember whether you have completed the onboarding flow.
To enforce sensible ad-frequency rate limits (a timestamp of the last shown app-open ad).
To respect your consent choices for personalized advertising.
Videous displays advertising provided by AppLovin Corporation’s MAX SDK, including mediated ad networks. Through mediation we may also display ads from Meta Audience Network (Facebook). These SDKs may collect:
Mobile advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / IDFA on iOS, which you can reset or limit in your device settings).
IP address and approximate location derived from it.
Device model, OS version, language, time zone, network type.
Ad-interaction events (impressions, clicks, view duration).
AppLovin and mediation partners use this data to select, display, and measure ads, and to detect invalid traffic. For their specific practices, see:
AppLovin Privacy Policy: applovin.com/privacy
Meta Audience Network Privacy Policy: facebook.com/about/privacy
For users in regions that require consent for personalized advertising (such as the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), Videous uses AppLovin’s certified Consent Management Platform to present a consent dialog on first launch. You can change your choice at any time from within the App by re-opening the consent dialog where offered.
You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. If you withdraw consent for personalized ads, we will continue to show non-personalized ads to keep the App free to use.
California residents have the right to (a) know what personal information is collected, (b) request deletion, (c) opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Because Videous does not maintain server-side user records, deletion requests primarily apply to data held by our advertising partners. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device’s Limit Ad Tracking settings, or by withdrawing consent in the in-app dialog described in Section 4.
Videous is rated for general audiences (13+) and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the address in Section 11 and we will take appropriate steps.
Data stored on your device (My List, onboarding flag, ad-frequency timestamp) remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its storage. Data received by third-party advertising SDKs is retained according to their own policies (linked in Section 3).
All network traffic from the App uses HTTPS. We do not transmit personal data to servers we operate, because we do not operate any. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security for third-party services.
Our advertising partners may transfer and process data in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These partners are responsible for ensuring appropriate safeguards as described in their respective privacy policies.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
