How to make a video for beginners

Hello. In this class I want to teach the technical skills to beginning learners how to make a video. Also, I want to create a significant learning environment that inspires deeper learning. I love to make videos, but it was a struggle to get here. Let's work together to find the right solutions that meet your needs.

Here's what I think are the most important points for you to be successful.

E-Learning theories how your students consume media.

Editing platform options.

Using video in your classroom.

Teach your students how to to make videos.

Copyright and fairness

I want to relate that making a video is kind of like buying t-shirts for a large group.

Have you ever shown up to an event where everyone is given the same t-shirt?

Someone decides to buy all the t-shirts in the same size of XL. Imagine that XL t-shirt fitting on a person who's less than 5' feet tall? The t-shirt would not be fitting. The same is true for our videos. We need to find the right solution for the student as well as the teacher.

The three things to weight when you make a video is

1. Cost

2. Easy

3. Feedback

I personally like the assignment grading video and the "looking ahead" video. These are free to make, they don't take up time since you'll already spend time doing it anyways, and you'll receive great feedback if your videos are working.

I don't like the idea of a flipped classroom for every circumstance. The cost usually is about $10 with an ipad app, they take a lot of work to prepare, and if you ask your students they may not appreciate them.

Reflect and discuss what is the best solution for your learning environment.
