I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Costa Rica.
I recently defended my doctoral thesis and obtained my PhD degree from Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.)
My primary research fields are Labor Economics, Development Economics, and Applied Microeconomics, with particular interest in inequality, labor market competition and wage-setting power, information frictions, and commuting.
In my doctoral thesis I focus on how infrastructure investments could reduce frictions in the labor market and promote inclusive economic development. I make use of novel data and a developing country context to study how frictions in the labor market (such as information barriers, power imbalances between employers and employees, and spatial constraints that limit access to better opportunities) can impact employment, wage inequality, and commuting decisions.
