Chapter 1: “Peace” of mind
Cloudy days are quite nice. They demonstrate a sorrowful sentiment but gift relaxing emotions that invoke peace. It’s pleasant to have such days present themselves every once in a while, after all, any sane soul would become gloomy if these days were every day. Especially if said cloudy days also come with rain… Rain makes for an incredibly relaxing ambience, one so somber that it puts the soul to a delicate rest. Additionally, having the peace of mind that you don’t have to get up early is nice. This, mixed with the rainy ambience, made for amazing sleep- which will soon come to a forceful end.
CRACK!
Lightning struck. You would think that anybody in such a deep state of rest would not be awoken by this, but it awakened a young man named Rhys with ease.
Rhys jumped, his baggy eyes opening wide in an instant.
“AGHHH!!” He screamed. Rhys sat up, breathing heavily, his fluffy wolf blanket slipping off in the process. Rhys rubbed his eyes, and then stretched, as he prepared for a new day.
“It’s just thunder, it always is…” Rhys thought to himself, recalling the numerous other times thunder had been the culprit for the murder of his sleep.
Rhys stretched his legs before fully getting up, putting his slippers on. Wearing nothing but his baggy boxers, he grabbed his phone which was charging all night long, and walked to the bathroom.
“Jani, dial Asinine..” Rhys instructed his phone’s virtual assistant, which followed command. Rhys was in the bathroom when his close friend picked up.
“Yo?” Asinine greeted Rhys.
“Hey… Tell boss I’ll be headed to work in about fifty-ish minutes, alright?” Rhys responded.
“Aaaand we got the usual fifty minutes today!” Asinine teased. “I knew your predictable ass was gonna say that.” Asinine’s chuckle could be heard over the phone.
“You know I follow a strict schedule, Asinine… I commit myself to this stuff, having my schedule be disrupted would be a disaster!” Rhys cried in his usual tone.
“Breaking: Rhys Buttfinger cares about his schedule even though he wakes up at a different time almost every morning!!” Asinine continued to tease.
“Asinine, c’mon… I’m starting to regret telling you my last name was Butters because you always make some stupid joke about it! Hmph…” Rhys responded, pouting.
“Ok, calm down Reece’s pieces… Why are you up so early this time by the way? Your sleep schedule is generationally inconsistent but seeing you up at an hour like six in the fuckin’ morning is like catching a shiny pokemon…” Asinine asked, joking about Rhys in the process.
“Oh, I just wanted to get some bonus work done on the project…” Rhys replied, hiding the truth from Asinine to avoid getting teased.
“Stop the bullshit, your pussy ass was scared of the thunderstorm!!” Asinine replied, continuing her teasing.
Rhys turned red. “Girl, shush, I’m hanging up, buh-bye…” Rhys said, hanging up and putting his phone on the left part of the sink counter.
Rhys opened his bathroom mirror, which also served as an openable cabinet. From there, he grabbed his green toothbrush which was stored in a blue cub inside the cabinet, and began brushing away; as he brushed, he took a good look at himself in the mirror, his short yet messy dark brown hair bothering him, he needed to brush it soon… He looked into his teal eyes, taking pride in possessing such a rare color.
Rhys finished up brushing his teeth and then brushed his hair, all that he needed now was a change of clothes and a nice breakfast and he’d be on his way. He took a good look at his body in the mirror, noticing a lot of body hair and a thin but masculine build. Rhys smiled, he was satisfied with this body.
After putting on his work clothes consisting of a dark-grey shirt and pants of the same color, a belt, a long light-grey lab coat, and some black shoes, Rhys walked to his tiny kitchen and served himself a bowl of his favorite corn cereal. He took a spoonful of a bite and turned on his television to distract himself a little.
And so the young dark-brown haired man powered on his television. He took a bite out of his cereal as he lay his eyes on the first thing he saw airing on the television; a commercial for dog treats. This caused Rhys' eyes to widen.
Rhys stared at the television intensely, capturing every frame of the ad in his head. He saw it, taking note of the quality treats promised in the ad.
“Sometimes I forget how good our rival brand's treats are…” Rhys thought to himself, a worried expression on his face.
The ad ended, but the ad already had an impact on Rhys. He soon got up and started walking in circles, obsessing and overthinking over how good the treats were; and how bad his could be compared to theirs.
Rhys continued walking and repeating thoughts over and over again for minutes, he fidgeted with his palms and scratched himself repeatedly and compulsively, until he decided to check the time; he was running late.
“Oh no!! I'm gonna be late, I gotta go!” Rhys said out loud, as he usually does whenever he undergoes one of these obsessive episodes. He soon got into his car and began driving to his work lab, but the thoughts didn't leave his mind.
Throughout the fifteen-minute car drive, Rhys kept thinking and thinking, until he forced himself to stop; this usually happens whenever his thoughts stress him out enough, so he clears his mind.
But soon enough, Rhy arrived at his lab. He rung the doorbell, and was soon met with a familiar voice.
“We're sorry, it appears we closed… Fifteen minutes ago!” Asinine's voice said jokingly through an outdoor speaker, which was heard by Rhys.
“Cmon Asi, don't make me more late than I already am!!” Rhys cried.
“Well maybe don't be late…” Asinine said, trimming her nails behind the speaker.
“I'm not even late, I can come here whenever I want to…” Rhys pouted.
“You set your own schedules, Reece's pieces. and yet you fail to be on time on your OWN time!” Asinine said, jokingly berating Rhys.
“Asi, it was only today and yesterday and the day before that and the day before that…” Rhys said, grabbing his left arm with his right hand.
Asinine sighed through the speaker as she opened the doors, allowing Rhys to enter.
Rhys slowly walked into the laboratory, it smelled like a dentist’s office inside; Rhys’ black shoes clanked against the cold and hard grey ground, as he made his way to the back door, where he was greeted by Asinine.
“Hey Asi…” Rhys greeted Asinine.
Asinine looked at Rhys smugly. “Rhys, you’re constantly inventing new schedules at this point, you say you’re gonna wake up at this hour and wake up either earlier or later!! At this point you’ll make a new timezone.” Asinine joked.
“Yeah yeah enough… Anyway I’m gonna be downstairs so I could MAYBE try and getting the treats done today, does that sound good?…” Rhys said and asked, Asinine just responding with a low-brow grin.
“I’m not the one you should be worried about Reece’s pieces… If you wanna afford that treatment for that severe OCD ya got you gotta make sure these treats are absolutely perfect. That’s what boss would say, at least.” Asinine said seriously, something that wasn’t common.
“Right…” Rhys responded.
“But please hurry up if ya will, vet duty is tiring… And puppies bite like a bitch…” Asinine said.
Rhys looked at Asinine. “Asi, this treatment matters a ton to me. I have episodes almost every day.” Rhys said seriously. Asinine giggled, trying to light up the mood.
“Calm down!! I’m sure you’re cooking with those treats, but take your time.” Asinine said with a warm smile, causing Rhys to smile and even somewhat blush.
“Thanks Asi…” Rhys responded, finally walking towards the staircase that led to the underground laboratory containing his project. He put his hand on one of the railings, however, he was interrupted by the bark of a puppy.
He turned around and noticed a woman bringing her puppy to get a vaccine; the puppy looked so innocent, no thoughts or worried behind it’s head. Rhys smiled, as he found this adorable.
“Must be nice to be a puppy, huh…” Rhys thought to himself. He resumed his trip downstairs shortly after.
Chapter 2 - An accidental discovery
Rhys’ glove-covered hand held onto the cold, metal railings, as he carefully stepped downstairs. Rhys was a cautious soul who prioritized his physical health a lot. As he walked down, the light of his workspace grew brighter and brighter, he was getting close to his destination.
Soon, Rhys was in his lab. The smell in here was much more different than one initially smelled above, it smelled like burnt plastic, kibble, and burning sugar.
“Ahhhhhh… I love the scent of my work.” Rhys said out loud, he was alone after all.
Rhys shortly turned his attention to his work desk, which had numerous other failed prototypes of what the treats could’ve been. Rhys sat down, facing his work computer. He powered it on to review notes he had taken last night, he wanted to know where to pick up.
After reviewing some notes, he stood up and walked to his fridge where he took out many ingredients; his promising progress on the treats, some peanut butter, sugar, acetic acid, and more. He was getting close to a result for his experiment.
Rhys put on his face mask, covering his nose and mouth. He then got to work.
Rhys was cooking. This continued for quite a bit, until he was interrupted by footsteps. Rhys didn't bother to turn around, however.
“Asi, what do you want…” Rhys called out loud, focusing on his work while assuming the footsteps belonged to Asinine.
“I want you to finish the product as rapidly as possible, Rhys Butters.” A deep voice responded, this immediately caused Rhys' eyes to widen and turn around rapidly.
“O-Oh greetings sir! I faithfully promise you that I'm inputting as much effort and time as I can, the product will not fail to be a commercial success.” Rhys responded formally and nervously, he was intimidated.
“Good. I cannot afford to have the product be a failure. Your medication depends on it, Butters.” The boss said in his usual deep voice, staring right into Rhys’ eyes.
“O-Of course sir. A product with this much effort to fail would be abysmal, after all.” Rhys said, sweating a little.
“I take faith in your statements, Butters. You better not undermine my standards. You know the consequences if else. Your mind will continue to suffer like how your pets did when your mother refused to take them to the veterinarian. Be wise, Butters.” The boss said, before walking away without saying a word. Rhys gulped before taking a deep breath and panting a little.
Tears formed in his eyes as Rhys returned to his work, although this time he failed constantly. Any formula he attempted backfired on him, which caused him to get frustrated and start crying.
Rhys cried face down on his desk, but yet again were footsteps heard getting closer to Rhys. This time however, they were much softer. It was Asinine. Asinine pat Rhys’ back.
“Boss can be pretty hard, huh?” Asinine said with a reassuring expression. Rhys turned around and looked at her with tears in his eyes.
“I-It’s just that… I need the m-medication…” Rhys sniffled. “It’s the reason I took up the offer, but ever since I-I did my shit’s been worse…” Rhys sniffled once more. “I just hope th-these are my last few episodes…” Rhys said, sniffling while crying.
Asinine gave Rhys a warm, low-brow smile. “Hey, just don’t worry about that, ‘mk? I’m sure you’ll do great with the treats, and if you don’t… We’ll figure out something, I promise.” Asinine said in a soothing tone, trying to make Rhys happier.
Rhys stared into Asinine’s eyes. “Like what?...” Rhys asked. “Well…” Asinine responded. “I’ll put in some money for those meds, I hate seeing you suffer.” Asinine said with an honest smile. Rhys’ expression rapidly shifted. “Huh? But they’re really pricy, I’d hate to cripple your economic situation…” Rhys said with a serious expression.
“And I’d hate for YOU to cripple my emotional situation with those episodes of yours!” Asinine said. Rhys’ eyes shifted positively. “Just do your best with this, if it fails, you have your backup, understood?” Said Asinine. Rhys responded with a gentle smile. “I will Asi, thank you.”
The two exchanged warm hugs until Asinine decided to return upstairs. “Well I gotta go attend a sick puppy, in case you haven’t been hearing that loud siren-ass noise from upstairs, it’s just a pupper who hurt his paw. They crash out over the tiniest things! As expected from such a small creature with a relaxing life… They never face struggles or anything, all they do is whine, eat, and sleep… Being a puppy would fix everything in that head of yours, Reece’s pieces…” Asinine said, finally returning upstairs.
The thought sticked to Rhys’ head. “Puppies have it so easily… Their worst thought is if their owner would be gone from the house for too long, while mine are millions of times worse…” Rhys thought to himself, turning around and shifting his focus back to his work desk. He returned to work, this time with much more patience and motivation.
Fifteen hours pass. The amount of failed treat prototypes on the side of Rhys’ desk has tripled, and Rhys faces extreme frustration and disappointment as yet another test fails.
Rhys’ left eye twitches. “WHY CAN’T I GET IT RIGHT?!” Rhys yells, as by 11 P.M he is the only remaining employee in the lab, in the entire building in general. Rhys violently grabs his failed prototype and bashes it into the pile of previous failures, causing a mess on his lab floor. Rhys then sat on his mobile chair, putting his hands on his face and letting out a cry of frustration.
He looked at the time. Time flied by, it was almost as if time skipped purposefully so that Rhys could just waste it on pointless failures. Rhys couldn’t deny it anymore, he was going nowhere with this.
A tear slowly rolled down his cheek as he struggled to come to terms with this failure. He soon mad ethe tough decision to just sunset the project.
“What’s the point of even continuing this… It’s not going anywhere, I’ll just let boss know I’m done with this…” Rhys thought to himself, pulling his phone out of his pocket to let his boss know about his decision. He entered his PIN and unlocked his phone, but that’s when he got a very specific notification…
Badoomf
His phone sounded as a notification came off. It was a reminder of his grocery list.
“Oh right… I gotta do this tomorrow. Lemme look through to see if I can even afford it…” Rhys thought to himself, reviewing his list slowly.
Rhys kept the same low-brow expression throughout the process, this exact same reaction applying to items like eggs and milk. This continued until he spotted one item which would cause his eyes to WIDEN.
“Cornstarch?...” Rhys thought to himself. “Wait, holy, CORNSTARCH!! I DID NOT THINK OF THIS!!” Rhys said, rapidly turning his attention back to his word desk, he was so rapid in his reaction that he dropped his phone.
After realizing that he didn’t actually have a bottle of cornstarch conveniently laying on his desk, he rapidly stood up and scoured the room for any bottle of cornstarch that may be conveniently laying around.
Rhys rapidly checked the lab, looking even in the tiniest crevices. Eventually he found a bottle with only a quarter of the substance left.
“YES!!!!” Rhys said, gripping the bottle tightly with his hands and jumping out of excitement. After grabbing it, he ran to his work desk and returned to his operations.
Immediately, Rhys attempted the formula that during testing, looked really promising. He grabbed a clean, shiny steel spoon from his wooden tools cabinet, and scooped up a spoonful of peanut butter. He slowly and carefully dumped it into a clear jar. Next, he poured some cuttlebone powder into the jar; he then poured one spoonful of sugar and some carrots. Now for the last step- The cornstarch. He poured a bit into the jar, leaving him with a raw and unpredictable substance.
Rhys was sweating just looking at it. Could this be his big breakthrough?
Rhys then hooked up the jar which was compatible to a blender, and blended the substance for about a minute. After this, he put on his fluffy green mittens and carefully put the jar inside an oven, which was operating at around 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Rhys would have to wait about three minutes for the substance to be put through the next step
Three minutes later, the substance was ready. Rhys carefully took it out, and he could immediately smell an unpleasant stench- it reeked of the fading scent of hot glue, mixed in with decaying vegetables. Of course Rhys used good vegetables, as it was important.
Rhys was immediately repulsed by the scent, even covering his nose and mouth with his arm. But he had hopes.
Rhys then took out a plastic tray, with bone shapes carved into it so the substance would solidify into a bone shape. He then carefully poured the substance into each bone, making sure not to spill a drop.
Once this procedure was done, Rhys, still wearing his mittens, carefully grabbed the tray and inserted it into his hyperfreezer, which housed a temperature of about -50 degrees Fahrenheit.
All that was left to do was wait two minutes. These two minutes felt like days however, as Rhys stared intensely at the freezer timer, counting down every millisecond. Rhys was sweating a lot, and his thoughts were triggering just from his anxiety.
But eventually, time passed, two minutes have passed. Rhys gulped as he slowly walked close to the freezer, preparing for either the best or worst. This was the beginning of the test.
Rhys slowly opened the freezer door, and was met with dark-brown bone-shaped treats. They smelled incredibly enticing. With his mittens still on, he grabbed the tray from the sides and placed it on his work desk.
“Is this it??” Rhys thought to himself, sweating as he stared down at the treats, being excited from the thought of a possible breakthrough.
Rhys activated his testing computer, and then grabbed one of the treats. Slowly and slightly reluctantly, he placed it under a scanner which simulated a dog’s reaction to the treats. Rhys would have to wait five minutes before getting the full results.
These five minutes felt like five years. Rhys was anxious, as he hoped for a success. Eventually, the five minutes were up. The treats were ready, and Rhys slowly shifted his focus to his computer screen, now displaying the results of the test…
It was a failure. If a dog or a canine in general were to ingest these treats, they would be severely intoxicated, making the dog almost lose it’s life.
Rhys did not react nicely to this. He stared at the computer screen with a blank expression, feeling destroyed after this loss. Rhys didn’t even erupt into a fit of rage; he just stared at the screen emptily.
“What was even the point of trying…” Rhys thought to himself, looking down at the treats and feeling like a failure in general. He knew how pricy medication was. Despite the promises of Asinine, Rhys knew not even her could afford such pricy treatment.
Rhys stared blankly at his treats. By this point he had tried every concept for a formula he had thought of, and still nothing. “I just give up, things aren’t gonna get better anyway…” Rhys thought to himself, grabbing the treat tray and standing up so he could throw them away. He was about to dispose of them, until…
Sniff
It smelled delicious. Rhys knew the source of the scent, it was the treats. Rhys was tempted to try them.
“No, that’s ridiculous! Those are dog treats!” Rhys thought to himself, trying to rid himself of the temptation as much as he could. But this was futile, as the more he resisted, the better the treats smelled…
“You know… These treats smell amazing. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try; they’re only toxic to a dog after all. Even if it is toxic, I failed.” Rhys thought to himself, giving in to his temptation, being fueled by his failure. Carefully, he grabbed a treat, and took a gentle and small bite…
The taste was amazing upon the initial impact with Rhy’s first taste buds. It was both crunchy and chewy, sweet and salty… The aftertaste was amazing, it was as if sugar was somehow more sweet and tastier. Rhys loved it, his mouth watering from the smell alone. He was hooked. He slowly chewed the treat, savoring it slowly and swallowing it gently.
Rhys gulped. He swallowed the rest of the treat, loving it a lot. Rapidly, Rhys grabbed all the other treats and stuffed them into his mouth, devouring them rapidly, his eyes even watering from the amazing taste. Soon enough, he finished every treat; however, Rhys wasn’t satisfied. He needed MORE. He desperately looked around for the ingredients he used for this formula, but discovered he was only left with some cornstarch.
Rhys was shaking, he longed for this amazing taste. He needed it, he couldn’t go on without it now. Rhys then checked the time; it was 1:47 A.M. He realized it was late, and reluctantly packed up his stuff to return home.
“I’ll be back tomorrow. Never mind the fucking treatment, this is all I need in life.” Rhys thought to himself.
And so he exited the building. Although for the first time in a while, he felt happy about something.
Chapter 3 - An unrealized desire
Awake. He was awake. He could feel the comforting fluff of his blanket inside the reach of his arms. Awake. He was awake. He slowly opened his eyes, seeing that sunlight was once again penetrating his bedroom.
He gagged. Rhys rushed to the bathroom, kneeled down in front of the toilet, and vomited a good bit. Dark-brown chunks spurted out of his mouth, it was none other than the treats he had stuffed himself with yesterday.
“Shit! Why did I attack myself like that??” Rhys thought to himself, feeling nauseous. He slowly stood up and flushed the toilet, then proceeded to brush his teeth to wash away any nasty remains in his mouth.
He looked at himself in the mirror; he looked exactly the same yet something was different… Why did everything look darker? Rhys could see color, but it was in a slightly darker shade. This didn’t phase him however.
Rhys finished brushing his teeth and walked out of his bathroom, getting ready to prepare himself some cereal. Although he noticed more oddities; he could smell everything stronger. The trash he forgot to take out? It smelled much worse than usual, as if he was sniffing it up close.
“Ugh…” Rhys thought to himself, reacting to the disgusting scent.
Rhys was once again unphased by this. He assumed some old food was rotting in there, which was a result of his procrastination.
“I'll take it out later…” Rhys thought to himself. As usual, he served himself some cereal and turned on the television to kill some time.
There was nothing interesting airing of course. Rhys finished up his cereal and entered his bedroom once more to change into his work clothes.
Changing felt weird than usual. When putting on his pants, he felt his body hair ruffle against his clothes more than usual, like he had a sudden hormone spike. Rhys looked down at his legs and was surprised to see more of his dark-brown leg hair sprout in multiple places.
“Weird…” Rhys thought to himself, being slightly phased but mainly unbothered by this. He brushed it off as a sudden hormone spike and didn't think much of it, despite his many strange symptoms this morning.
Rhys got dressed and finally drove off to work. When driving, it was almost lime his vision lost color as time went on… He could also smell everything much clearer, he could smell the pine tree air freshener as if he was holding it right on his nose.
“What the hell?? Something isn't right…” Rhys thought to himself, slowly becoming more and more worried.
Throughout the car trip, Rhys' craving for the treats he had stuffed himself with returned hard. He began craving them slowly and slowly, prompting him to drive to his workplace faster.
Soon, he had arrived. Upon entering the facility he was greeted by Asinine.
“Oh you're here! You didn't call this time, that's strange…” Asinine said in her usual jolly tone.
“Listen Asi… This is serious. I need to make MORE of those trea- I mean, finally find the formula. I've been losing sleep night after night because of this, I don't have time to talk, I have to work, bye.” Rhys responded seriously, immediately heading downstairs to his lab without awaiting a response from Asinine.
Asinine was visibly concerned by this, but she decided to leave Rhys be. After all, she saw firsthand how much Rhys was crying for his medication.
Rhys rapidly walked downstairs, immediately placing his bag down on the floor and taking out all the supplies needed for a large quantity of treats; more bottles of cornstarch, more peanut butter, more sugar, and much more vegetables.
Rhys rapidly got to work, repeating the process of cooking and freezing the treats. Once they finished cooking, Rhys immediately gobbled them up mindlessly. He enjoyed this a lot, as this eliminated a lot of his worries, he was just lost in the moment. It almost felt like he wasn't conscious.
hours passed, however. What felt like mere minutes passed by in an instant, as Rhys had eaten over a hundred treats- and still craved some more.
This euphoria however, would end as Rhys gagged. Rapidly, he rushed to the laboratory bathroom and vomited like crazy, releasing most of what he had eaten that day.
After some five minutes, Rhys had finished barfing. He looked up at the clock, realizing it was now past Midnight.
“Fuck…” He thought to himself. Rhys didn't even bother to pack up his stuff, he just left the lab and drove home. He felt his mind boggy, however, Rhys was unaware that this was the last day he had a fully clear and human mind.
Chapter 4 - Like a puppy
Blissful comfort. Everything was so soft. Barely awake he was, but he felt safe and cozy hugging his pillow. It felt softer and warmer than usual this morning. He smiled, nuzzling it. He slowly opened his eyes, it was another cloudy day as sunlight wasn't penetrating his window this time- or it was. Rhys just couldn't see any color.
“HUH??” Freaked out, Rhys sat up and rubbed his eyes rapidly. He opened them and closed them rapidly, but still saw no color. The world was black and white to him, almost like he traveled into a vintage television.
Rhys freaked out, his fear fueled by the mere fact that he has no idea what is happening to him; rapidly, he dashed to the bathroom to see what has happening to his eyes.
This trip left him in more of a surprise though. He noticed body hair was growing where it shouldn't, as it was starting to sprout on his hands… His nails were also shaped weirdly, almost sharply. They had a dark, black color. He felt small pads growing on his palms that had the texture of sandpaper. This all obviously freaked Rhys out.
Before Rhys could continue his freakout, the urge returned; his mouth watered at the thought of the treats, craving them instantly.
“Need… Treats…” Rhys thought to himself, craving the treats more and more. Without even serving himself a cereal or changing, he dashed into his car and sped to his workplace.
Upon entering the workplace, he was questioned by Asinine.
“Again? Rhys why are you not calli-” Asinine said, before being interrupted by Rhys appearance; Rhy seemed to have fur sprouting all over his body, and his hands seemed to be morphing into paws.
“What the fuck?? Rhys?? What's going on, I know it's tough to make those treats but what's happening to you?? You have hair everything and your hands look weird as fuck!”
Asinine's tone caused Rhys to growl, then he barked at Asinine. “Ruff! Hey don't talk to me like that! Now out of my way, I have shit to do!” Rhys barked at Asinine. Obviously, this didn't sit well with Asinine and she followed behind Rhys rapidly.
“Hey, what the fuck is going on?! You've NEVER acted like this!” Rhys just ignored Asinine, until Asinine grabbed Rhys by his shoulders and turned him around. “Just listen to me! What the fuck is going o-” Asinine was interrupted by a sharp bite- It was Rhys, causing Asinine's left thigh to bleed from the sharpness of his new fangs. This caused Asinine to fall on the floor and cry out.
“AHHHHHHH! WHAT THE FUCK!!” Asinine yelled, crying out loud as she fell on the floor. Rhys rapidly walked to his lab as Asinine was left bleeding on her floor. She watched as Rhys walked away, she was shocked from what had just happened.
Asinine was not going to let this go however; when Rhys left, she stood up and bandaged her thigh, then silently went downstairs to where Rhys would be unable to detect her. She privately watched Rhys, and to her surprise she was witnessing the cause of Rhys’ sudden changes.
In front of her, Asinine saw Rhys stuffing himself with dark-brown dog treats. He was eating them like crazy, and she also got to see him finish them. Asinine was able to put the piece together: Rhys had accidentally created a drug, a drug that was changing him.
Asinine looked down as Rhys became violent throwing things around as he looked for more treats. She had to stop him. Scared, Asinine walked downstairs slowly and softly confronted Rhys.
“Rh-Rhys?...” Asinine said, calling his attention. Rhys looked at Asinine with a bloodshot and violent look, and appeared as if he was going to pounce on her; and he was. He shifted his position. Asinine let out a blood curdling scream, she yelled as Rhys showed her his fangs.
And so he pounced, Asinine shutting her eyes tightly and covering her head with her hands, however she didn't feel a thing…
In fact, Rhys was stopped by a sharp pain, in his stomach. Asinine could hear whining, a puppy's whining… Despite feeling a lot of fear, she carefully approached Rhys…
“Rhys?...” Asinine called out once more, tears forming in her eyes.
Rhys continued whining, he was in tons of pain but he was able to process what was happening.
“A-Asi?...” Rhys said, looking up at Asinine. “I-I'm sorry…” Rhys said, tears forming in his eyes as well.
“It's ok… I just want you to be ok…” Asinine said, starting to cry. She headpatted Rhys.
Rhys’ head began to blur. Rhys soon fell unconscious which scared Asinine.
“Rh-Rhys?? RHYS?!” Asinine cried out, shaking Rhys violently to wake him up.
Rhys stayed unconscious. His body however didn't. By this point, Rhys had eaten hundreds upon hundreds of treats- and these treats, if eaten by a human, changes them forever…
Rhys’ unconscious body began shaking sporadically; Asinine watched as Rhys' body reacted to the changes violently. She could see bones shifting from the Inside of Rhys, she saw as his entire body began spurting a ton more fur; soon, Rhys was a furry being, but his body was soon to change…
Slowly, Rhys spurted a tail out of his behind, it was a long and fluffy one, this was followed by his feet, which became paws along with her hands. His thighs and belly also became thicker, Asinine noticed something strange though; Rhys was growing breasts.
These breasts slowly grew to a C-Cup size, Rhys’ skull then shifted to that of a dog's before two dog ears sprouted out of his skull. His hair grew. And soon he was awake.
She yawned. Asinine blushed as she stared at Rhys’ new appearance; a chubby puppygirl. Rhys noticed Asinine and jumped at her, licking her face.
“Ahhhhh!” Asinine screamed joyfully, giggling. She smiled as she looked at Rhys.
“I've never seen him so happy… Or should I say her?” Asinine said, rubbing Rhys’ new ears.
“Hey, calm down girlie… You know, I've always wanted a puppy…” Asinine said, looking at Rhys. “You know what, you're mine now. Although Rhys isn't a fitting name for a pudgy girl like you…” Asinine said, still petting Rhys.
“Ah! I got it! I'll call you Butterball!” Asinine said, prompting Butterball's tail to wag. Butterball then layed on her back, getting herself in a position for belly rubs, which she received.
“Who's my good girl?? You areee!” Asinine teased Butterball.
After a bit of petting, Asinine took Butterball home. Butterball was happy in her new life, as she adjusted quite easily. She loved her owner too. Butterball didn't even need her medication anymore.
END!
