Rakuten Viber Business Messages lets you send multiple message types within the same channel, making it simpler for the customer and more efficient for the brand: transactional, promotional and conversational messages.

A 24-hour conversational session starts whenever a user messages the business. After 24 hours or after the limit of 60 messages per session is reached, the session terminates automatically. The next time a user messages the brand, a new session starts.

For all active businesses, there is a minimum fee per month: no matter how many messages are sent, the business will pay no less than that sum. At the end of the month, each brand receives a bill based on the actual messaging traffic it has generated. If it adds up to less than the minimum fee, the brand is charged the minimum fee. Otherwise, the business is simply charged based on its usage of business messages.

This was driving me crazy too so I just deleted Viber and then installed it again from the Cloud from AppStore. This however deleted all my messages history, which in my case is not an issue. I suppose there may be a way to recover the message history, but I do not really need that, and it might also recover the unread anyway and I don't want those ?

You may not have to do anything that drastic. Try deleting the viber app, then restart your phone before adding it back. Just a normal restart or a forced restart (neither will result in any data loss)

The send_message API allows accounts to send messages to Viber users who subscribe to the account. Sending a message to a user will be possible only after the user has subscribed to the bot. (see subscribed callback for additional information). You can share your bot with the users via a deeplink.

The API supports a variety of message types: text, picture, video, file, location, sticker, contact, carousel content and URL. Specific post data examples and required parameters for each message type are given below.

The broadcast_message API allows accounts to send messages to multiple Viber users who subscribe to the account. Sending a message to a user will be possible only after the user has subscribed to the bot by sending a message to the bot.

Maximum total JSON size of the request is 30kb. The maximum list length is 300 receivers. The Broadcast API is used to send messages to multiple recipients with a rate limit of 500 requests in a 10 seconds window.

This mandatory parameter defines the recipients for the message. Every user must be subscribed and have a valid user id. The maximum list length is 300 receivers. For example (this should be a part of the full JSON body):

Each callback will contain a signature on the JSON passed to the callback. The signature is HMAC with SHA256 that will use the authentication token as the key and the JSON as the value. The result will be passed as HTTP Header X-Viber-Content-Signature so the receiver can determine the origin of the message.

Before an account can send messages to a user, the user will need to subscribe to the account. Subscribing can take place if the user sends a message to the bot - when a user sends its first message to a bot the user will be automatically subscribed to the bot. Sending the first message will not trigger a subscribe callback, only a message callback (see receive message from user section).

The welcome message will be sent as a regular message, following conversation_started callback, which will be received from Viber once the user opens the conversation with the account. To learn more about conversation_started event and its triggering conditions, please refer to Conversation started in the callbacks section of the documentation.

Since some of the message validations take place on the server while the others take place on the client, some messages may only fail after reaching the client. In such cases the flow will be as follows:

The Chat API allows the user to send messages to the PA. Excluding file type, all message types are supported for sending from bot to user and from user to bot. These include: text, picture, video, contact, URL and location. The following callback data describes the structure of messages sent from user to PA.

The following error codes will be returned with API responses. The status parameter will include the error code value while the status_message parameter will include the error name or a more specific string describing the error.

After first using RV to spread its message in June 2020, the International Federation of the Red Cross launched an official chatbot and Community on the messaging app to combat the spread of false information, which they termed an infodemic, about COVID-19.[33] The chatbot is still active as of June 2022, with over 1.4 million subscribers.[34]

On 4 November 2014, Viber scored 1 out of 7 points on the Electronic Frontier Foundation's "Secure Messaging Scorecard". Viber received a point for encryption during transit but lost points because communications were not encrypted with keys that the provider did not have access to (i.e. the communications were not end-to-end encrypted), users could not verify contacts' identities, past messages were not secure if the encryption keys were stolen (i.e. the service did not provide forward secrecy), the code was not open to independent review (i.e. the code was not open-source), the security design was not properly documented, and there had not been a recent independent security audit.[46][47] On 14 November 2014, the EFF changed Viber's score to 2 out of 7 after it had received an external security audit from Ernst & Young's Advanced Security Centre.[46]

As of September 2021, Viber is Ukraine's most popular messaging app, with a market share of 97.7%. 20% of the company's total messages sent came from Ukraine, where users sent 97.5 billion messages in 2021.[68]

Viber's market share in Bulgaria is steadily increasing. Reaching a record 90% in 2021. The number of calls made and messages sent via Viber in Bulgaria rose by 11% in 2021, reaching approximately 530 million calls and an average of 400 messages per second, according to data presented by the company.[71]

Viber was originally launched as a VoIP application for voice calling. On 31 March 2011, Viber 2.0 was released which added instant messaging (IM) capabilities.[87] In July 2012 group messaging and an HD Voice engine were added to both Android and iOS applications.[88] Today, users can send several kinds of media files including photos, videos, GIFs, files, audio messages, and stickers.[89]

In November 2016, Viber version 6.5 launched Public Accounts to allow brands to engage in promotion and customer service on the platform, with initial partners including The Huffington Post, Yandex and The Weather Channel.[55][94] The app integrates with CRM software and offers chatbot APIs for customer service.[55] Viber Communities, an enhanced group chat feature, was introduced in February 2018.[95] Group calling was introduced with version 10 in February 2019.[96] Communities have an unlimited number of participants, compared to group chats that have a maximum of 250.[97] Viber communities are protective of their users' privacy since neither superadmins nor admins can see members' phone numbers. Also, members who enable private messages can contact each other while keeping their numbers hidden.[98] In October 2020, Viber launched message statistics to go along with Community insights. These statistics offer Community admins the ability to see engagement levels with the content they post to their Communities.[99]

In August 2023, the company released two Viber Plus features for iOS users: Invisible Mode and Read Voice Messages. Read Voice Message feature turns voice messages into text, so any message can be ready anytime. Invisible Mode allows users to privately read messages and browse on the platform.[111]

In the industrial environment, we have a SCADA system for monitoring temperatures, humidity, and other params. When an alarm comes, I cand send some variables from our software. I read you could make bot with some PHP application, but I'm not programmer. Any easy solutions?

Viber messages are supposed to be encrypted. However, there have been a number of bugs in the past, for example see Viber begins fixing image-encryption vulnerability. There may still be (undiscovered) bugs in the encryption.

Sending your messages online means trusting the application you send them through and it's important you know exactly what kind of security measures are taken to keep your information private. With Viber, your messages are secure.

All text messages sent through Viber on its supported platforms are encrypted. Media messages, such as photos and videos, are encrypted on Viber for iOS, Viber for Android, Viber for Windows 8 and Viber for Windows Phone 8.

Encrypted data refers to data that is taken in its original form and converted into code or other data in order to conceal the original content. In other words, data encryption takes your messages and turns it into a bunch of garble that cannot be deciphered.

Viber is an instant messaging and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) app with over a billion users worldwide. It's free to download and enables people to connect with others through high-quality voice and video calls, text and media messages and more.

A big advantage to Communities is that admins can access member insights. For example, the number of active users, community growth statistics, the quantity of messages sent over a specific time frame, which members have joined and left, age and country demographics, and more. ff782bc1db
