Today my Viber desktop app (on Win10) updated itself to version 20.7.0.1 and after it relaunched, the dark blue theme had switched to black so pure and deep, that it literally hurts my eyes from the contrast with the white letters, and especially when looking at the left side where the contacts list is. It hurts my eyes and is downright unusable for me in this state. And in the settings I can see the only alternative is the light theme. Dark Blue is simply gone.

I strongly object to the imposing ads that now display on Viber desktop. Whilst in the middle of communicating with family and friends, the video's pop up in the bottom left hand corner. They are most distracting and highly irritating. And every so often the sound comes on. This is unacceptable! This type of advertising must surely put many people off Viber. I am certainly on the verge of uninstalling Viber for good. There are plenty of other options. I hope Viber management will look in to this matter.

The sound is also reproducable by pressing the vol up/down button when the viber window is active. However, if another window is being activated it does not do this anymore. Only after i received or sent a message, it would do the sound again upon pressing the buttons.

I tested another viber installed on another computer running Arch Linux updated. I can open viber and send messgaes but I can not sent image and document file as I mentioned in my post recently. It was just before I removed ~/.ViberPC and ~/.cache/'Viber Media S. r.l' folders. After removing the folders and start the viber, it says no connection as on the first computer.

I have not reported this incident to viber yet but after applying Fedora update, reboot then after viber worked with no issue at all. Most probably the problem was dependencies. This is a closed issue. Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts.

I am not sure how it works when you have the desktop client running on multiple PCs (like I have, one on work laptop and one on my home pc). Maybe they are automatically downloaded to other devices and put to ViberDownloads. Will have to look into how that works, but still it will mean lot of messing with the paths and maybe even not worth the hassle.

Hello,

I am trying to find out how to make viber desktop working. It is allowed in application control settings.

It is working when HTTPS inspection is disabled. But when is enabled it doesn't sync. I tried adding domain exceptions(*.viber.com, *.rakuten.com) in the https proxy inspection but it is still not working.

Do you have suggestion how to configure the inspection so Viber will works but also the inspection for the other sites remains?

In the industrial environment, we have a SCADA system for monitoring temperatures, humidity, and other params. When an alarm comes, I cand send some variables from our software. Currently, I have managed to make working with the SMS gateway service. Is it possible to open the Viber desktop app and send some text messages in alarm? I read you could make bot with some PHP application, but I'm not programmer. Any easy solutions?

Using Viber messenger on your remote desktop provides a convenient and efficient way to communicate, which promotes collaboration and productivity. Install Viber on your desktop right now and enjoy the benefits of modern virtual communication.

The remote desktop protocol is an approach to accessing windows from a remote area without really accessing your device from its actual location. Moreover, the users using the remote desktop protocol can utilize their windows platform anytime and any place they want. The remote desktop protocol is a product from Microsoft Corporation. The protocol came in to deliver the windows server at residence. Using the remote desktop protocol is easy. It is as comfortable as hitting an icon to control your Windows from any other external computer or smart device. The remote desktop control also enables you to share the mouse and keyboard activity with the remote device. Users accessing the remote desktop control can access the Windows/ computer as if they are working on the same computer. It creates an exact ditto environment to work on. The significance of RDP has made it popular among users.

I recently updated my Viber on my phone. Then, I downloaded the app in my desktop. I'm not sure whether its my phone's fault or not... but when I open the app in my desktop, the messages are not synchronizing.

Only available in Viber desktop (which runs on computer) so far, the Viber-screen Lock feature can effectively help protect privacy. This feature locks the screen of Viber with a password to prevent prying eyes from reading your chats, see your contacts, etc.

viber for desktop is a great add-on for viber because it allows faster messaging (typing on a real keyboard) and it can send/receive independently from your phone. however, i find that on a PC, the notification sounds for incoming messages and calls are more than annoying.

Viber Linux client is quite stable and integrates well with the Linux desktop environments. It works as expected while offering a good audio/video quality. Altogether, if you use Viber on mobile, you can use Viber on Linux seamlessly.

Free-calling and texting services are already disrupting the old business model of making money through text messages. Now Viber, one of the biggest disruptors, is expanding its messaging to desktops for Windows and Mac and challenging a fellow disruptor to carriers: Skype. Viber has announced a desktop version of its service for Windows and Mac, which lets users continue texting or calling from a mobile device onto a desktop computer .

The service improves on Skype's tendency to show a glut of old messages between platforms. "PC and Mac applications will perfectly synchronize with the users' mobile experience," said Viber's founder and CEO Talmon Marco. "Mobile is great. I love sending and receiving messages on my phone. But sometimes you're in front of your computer, and in this case the desktop is a better medium."

Viber does not require a user ID - users register with their mobile phone number. That means if you call someone on Viber and they have both the desktop and mobile app open, both devices will ring and they can transfer a call between the two. "With Skype you can't transfer a call," said Marco. "With Viber you can."

The company also announced it had hit more than 200 million registered users, putting in the big leagues with mobile messaging services WhatsApp (more than 200 million active users globally) and WeChat (roughly 300 million, largely in China). It also unveiled a number of new features, including a beta version of desktop-to-desktop video calls and the ability to send short videos. Viber says audio-file sending is on its way, as is video calling through its mobile app.

Viber 3.0 also lets you transfer calls between mobile devices and the desktop. If you start chatting with a friend using your Windows laptop, you can quickly switch to Viber on your smartphone or vice versa. The problem is both users need to have Viber 3.0 for call transfers to work, so you may have to wait for your friends to update their apps before you can use this feature.

Call quality has always been pretty good with Viber, and the desktop app brings that same experience to PCs in my tests on a Lenovo ThinkPad X220 running Windows 8. Video calling was fine too, offering about the same image quality as Skype.

PCWorld senior writer Brad Chacos, who helped me test Viber using a Lenovo ThinkPad Twist running Windows 8, reported a slightly poorer video image than I was seeing. When I switched from desktop to a Nexus One running Android 2.3, he also said the voice quality dropped noticeably, though it was still completely intelligible.

Cross-platform: Viber has versions for Windows (including Windows 8 desktop or mobile), as well as Windows Phone, Android, Mac, iOS, BlackBerry, Bada, and Nokia operating systems. It supports both 3G/4G and Wi-Fi networks.

For those of us who are familiar with Viber, the communication mobile app, there is some good news in store. Viber junkies can now use their favorite calling app on their desktops with the new Mac and PC versions being released on Sep 11.

The new Viber 5.0 reveals some powerful new features and enhancements, like the ability to make video calls from your phone. This automatically takes Viber into Skype territory. While Skype started with a desktop application and eventually crossed over to mobile applications, Viber debuted from a mobile application perspective and now finds itself working its way to the desktop.

When it comes to accessibility, both Viber Desktop and the mobile app offer their own unique advantages. Viber Desktop allows you to send messages directly from your computer or laptop while working or browsing the web. It provides a larger screen space for typing messages and viewing conversations, making it convenient for those who spend most of their time on desktop devices. 0852c4b9a8
