I downloaded viber.deb from and tried to install it using gdebi. On installation it showed that the libssl1.0.0 is missing, so I downloaded and installed libssl1.0.0_1.0.2n-1ubuntu6.2_amd64.deb, libssl1.0-dev_1.0.2n-1ubuntu6.2_amd64.deb and openssl1.0_1.0.2n-1ubuntu6.2_amd64.deb. After that I succesfully installed and activated viber on my laptop so I tried to make a call but it never gets to ringing, just stuck on calling.

I tried editing dependencies in viber/DEBIAN/control and changed libssl1.0.0 to libssl1.1 (following instructions from Ubuntu 18.04 Unable to install Viber ) with the same end result- still not able to make a call.

Viber Call

Fact # 2. When I travel internationally for business in 2012 Oct, I called prior to my trip to turn on the international calling feature on only for specific time frame, then I had requested to turn off the date that I was back to States. Verizon customer only changed me the monthly international feature on the specific date range that I had requested. But international calling feature was on for "FREE" without my knowledge by Verizon. The reason from Verizon customer service was "FOR MY CONVINENCE BECAUSE YOU TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY SO WE HAVE IT ON SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO CALL AND ACTIVATE IT EVERYTIME YOU TRAVEL" . The reason I did not want it on because I got reimbursement from my employer for all the calls and service charges while I was travelling for business, then regular monthly bill is my personal responsibility. Because of that I do not want internationally calling feature on in my phone even for "free". I used Viber, Skype to call my personal calls, I don't want Verizon network to accidentally pick up or being charge on Verizon network for my personal calls. This was why I never want international feature even for FREE. Verizon had put the free international feature without my consent.

Now on 7/17/2014 I used Viber to call Myanmar and Verizon charged me $167.88 for that call. 1st Verizon customer service said I used Viber that Verizon did not authorize to use it than I have my international line on. When Viber application failed my called to Myanmar was used Verizon network. I said , Reason 1) I had no knowledge that I was using Verizon network because I knew I used "free call" form my Viber contact list,

I went to Verizon store to turn off my international calling feature immediately and I asked Verizon to fully credit back the $167.88 (this Viber Call). I had been denied by Verizon customer service. I'm awaiting to resolve this issue and fully refund $167.88 before I'm deciding to renew my another 2 more years contract with Verizon for iPhone 6. At this moment I was penalized by free service international calling feature was put in my phone without my knowledge that cause this unfortunate error. I was very disappointed by Verizon and greatly regarded for leaving unlimited data plan by AT&T to join Verizon a few years ago.

You need to bring it up with Viber and not Verizon. You could take this to court and a judge will tell you the same thing. Doesn't matter what carrier you are with. You used an app which claimed free calling, but didn't deliver.

What number to you use to call Myanmar. I want to send photo via text messaging. I dialed 011 95 followed by the Myanmar cell phone number. It is failing on all accounts. Have you ever sent a text or photo to Myanmar? If so, how did you do it?

But as I mentioned user have to go through two steps to make a call. I've tried all solutions and also read viber docs but can't find anything. If anyone aware of how to do it in the newer version would be helpful to many developers.

I had the same issue. At&t representative said using any 3rd party app to make an international call can be considered a regular call if the wifi signal is weak. In other words, they do know if you are using viber. My bill was over $1000 and we only used viber via "good" wifi to make the call. Something is not right.

Does Viber record calls by any means ? I am asking because there's a new option "transfer calls" and I accidentally pushed it while talking and it wasn't my iphone. Actually it was a Nokia. Could my call have been recorded by any means or accessed by anyone ? Thank you ?

People you call must download the app in order to receive free calls and the chat application. We won't be accessing the Internet or email unless we can connect to Wifi and will be turning off roaming on our phones.

Making/receiving calls using the Viber app is only "free" if you are obtaining your data signal in a free wifi area (for example, if you hotel offers free wifi). So yes, be sure to be in wifi and turn off roaming or switch to "airplane mode" to prevent accidentally switching from wifi to cell data, for instance, if you're on a Viber call while in your hotel lobby where there is free wifi and you continue chatting as you walk out the lobby and down the street.

I've used Viber for making international calls, but in my case, I was on the receiving end here back in the states and the person I was talking with was overseas. I didn't experience any problems with the connection. It sounded clear like any other call.

I have never used VIber. I have used Google Hangouts to make free calls to or within the US. The advantage of Google Hangouts is that the other person doesn't need to have Google Hangouts; you can even call landline phones from your smart phone. The disadvantage of Google Hangouts: calls to numbers outside the US aren't free, so any call to a number in the country you are visiting wont' be free (but still pretty cheap - you have to buy credit). Then again, to do that with Viber, the other person has to have it, too.

That's not the full story. According to the Viber website, users can call non-Viber mobile or landline numbers at low rates with Viber Out. I haven't checked the rates recently but as I recall they're very cheap (although they won't be "free").

I prefer to go into airplane mode and then turn back on wifi - easy to do - so that I don't get unwanted phone calls at $1 per minute.

I have had great luck with viber, both receiving calls from my kids overseas and making calls for work when I was there. I didn't use viber out though. Everyone I spoke to or texted was willing to load viber on their cell phones.

Spam calls are being identified through a combination of what Viber says is a spam score aggregation and through phone numbers reported by other Viber users. When opted into the feature, users will receive post-call options that include redialing a number, reporting a number, messaging or saving a contact.

The feature also comes as Android phone makers continue to incorporate similar features for avoiding spam calls. Most recently, Samsung has launched a Bixby Text Call feature that allows you to text a phone caller, with your responses dictated using the Bixby assistant. Google has also included its own set of call screening features on its Pixel devices, which let the Google Assistant screen an incoming call using guided prompts. However those options from Samsung and Google require you to purchase one of their phones, but this Viber feature would be available for anyone using Android.

While the Viber chat app is more popular internationally than in the US, with 1 billion active users as of March 2020, a caller identification feature like this could provide a reason to use Viber even if you don't have friends or family using it for texting. Robocalls of all kinds have been a persistent thorn, and any new feature that helps fight them for free, the better.

I tried to place a FaceTime call on my iPhone but that didn't work, which made me assume that UDP is blocked too. However, the Viber app was able to successfully connect and start a video call with decent quality/lag.

Viber, or Rakuten Viber, is a cross-platform voice over IP (VoIP) and instant messaging (IM) software application owned by Japanese multinational company Rakuten, provided as freeware for the Google Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS and Linux platforms.[5] Users are registered and identified through a cellular telephone number, although the service is accessible on desktop platforms without needing mobile connectivity.[5] In addition to instant messaging it allows users to exchange media such as images and video records, and also provides a paid international landline and mobile calling service called Viber Out.[6] As of 2018, there are over a billion registered users on the network.[7][8]

Viber Media was founded in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2010 by Talmon Marco[13] and Igor Magazinnik.[14] Marco and Magazinnik are also co-founders of the P2P media and file-sharing client iMesh.[15] The company was run from Israel, and was registered in Cyprus. Sani Maroli and Ofer Smocha soon joined the company as well.[16][17][18][19][20][21] Marco commented that Viber allows instant calling and synchronization with contacts because the ID is the user's cell number.[22]

In its first two years of availability, Viber did not generate revenues. It began doing so in 2013, via user payments for Viber Out voice calling and the Viber graphical messaging "sticker market". The company was originally funded by individual investors, described by Marco as "friends and family".[23] They invested $20 million in the company, which had 120 employees as of May 2013[update].[24]

Viber's market share in Bulgaria is steadily increasing. Reaching a record 90% in 2021. The number of calls made and messages sent via Viber in Bulgaria rose by 11% in 2021, reaching approximately 530 million calls and an average of 400 messages per second, according to data presented by the company.[71] ff782bc1db
