Dear Virginia History Day Participants,

On behalf of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, congratulations on being selected for the state competition. What an impressive accomplishment! While we are disappointed that we cannot celebrate your hard work in person this year, we look forward to welcoming you back inside our doors soon.

Without a doubt, this past year has presented you with many unprecedented challenges. It is a testament to your academic excellence and maturity that you chose to take on the added responsibility of putting together an NHD project. We know that you have devoted countless hours to research, writing, editing, digitizing, photographing, and uploading. Regardless of today’s outcome, you have accomplished a great deal, and you should be very proud.

I also encourage you to take a moment and express your thanks to your family, teacher, mentor, and district coordinator for the effort and support they provided to help you improve your knowledge and skills to succeed, more so than ever during the stresses of the past year. The future of this important program depends in large part on their willingness to be involved. Please be sure they know how much you enjoyed it so that students after you have the same great opportunity.
