The United States Army will celebrate its 250th birthday on June 14, 2025, with celebrations in Washington, D.C., including a parade, festival, concert, and fireworks. This milestone commemorates the Army's long history of service and sacrifice in defending the nation.
Flag Day, observed annually on June 14th, commemorates the adoption of the American flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. This resolution established the "thirteen stripes, alternate red and white," and "thirteen stars, white in a blue field" as the official flag of the United States. While the flag was adopted in 1777, Flag Day wasn't officially established as a national holiday until 1949, though it was observed earlier by various groups and individuals.
